Hi guys
Am looking to go elk/mule deer hunting in Montana this
year. Hope to make a connection with an outfitter soon. Can
anyone recommend a good one for rifle. Thanks for any help!

I recommend NOT going with Wayne Hill Outfitting. Check in the Bugle magazine in the outfitter ad section. Good luck

Go to www.bowhuntelk.com Dave and Abe Hein really know thier stuff, and you hunt the property they own, not porperty they lease. It's hard to draw a rifle tag for that area, but you could get lucky.....but thier bowhunting is up close and personal with lots of big bulls.

Leonard, Why not Wayne Hill? I never hunted with him but have heard good things about him. His website seems to be straight forward with the hunt summarys

I suggest to man up and forget about the outfitter. Lots of good places and good hunting in Montana on public land for everybody to enjoy..

He may want to hunt soon. An out of state friend of mine has not drawn three consecutive years. He was born and raised here so its been frustrating for him. Pay the outfitter fee for a guaranteed hunt. Contact the Flynns in Townsend, Mt. Lots of quality animals at a good price.

Map1 - They had two guides per one hunter and they tramped around sounding like a army. Wayne is a complete A@$. They never wanted to hunt more than a mile from the road, and had planned walks starting from drop-off points and the guides followed cleared trails with flagging marking the way. You could look down and see multiple boot prints along the trail. Hope that explains it, and I only hunted three days with him on short notice. I agree with the other post, plenty of areas that have elk/deer in MT.
