I'm new to the MonsterMuley forum page. Great sight. I'm in need of some help. I've hunted North Eastern Utah for the last 18 years. I am an avid Mule Deer hunter that is very UNFAMILIAR with the Cental Unit. I can only hunt in the afternoons and evenings. I work in Lehi and am looking for someplace I can go after I'm off. I'm in good shape and am willing to to hunt hard. Can anyone help??? Send me a P.M. at [email protected].

Welcome to the Site. I have hunted Central for several years now. If we end up with a dry year it will be tough to find the bucks without running into a million people. If you are just looking for a "meat in the freezer buck" you can try Diamond Fork, AF Canyon - up around cascade springs, the face of Timp. If you are looking for a trophy you will want to get up high and away from the road hunters. Try hicking up above Alpine or even up high on Timp or up above Silver lake.

If it is a Wet and wild hunt like last year then anywhere low up Diamond Fork would be good. I hunted Central Last year up on Strawberry ridge opening day. Just saw a few does but heard a TON of shooting down in the Diamond Fork area - down low. Durring the week I hunted the lake mountains up on top - I live out in Saratoga sop this was very convenient. The bucks came out of the wood works with the snow and were rutting early. My Wife hunted with me and ended up missing two 4x4s on that mountain that would go to about the 24-26 inch mark. We saw two bucks that were even bigger but no shot opertunity. Not a lot of pressure up there on the lake mountains either especially since it was such a wet and miserable hunt.

Good luck where ever you go.

BTW - I drew Norhteastern and plan to hunt the Current Creek area. Any suggestions on where I should focus my efforts? I have the whole hunt on so we aren't in any hurry to fill the tags with dinks opening morning.

Thanks and be safe!

Jeremy

Deer populations are low on the west side of the lake. A lot of those deer moved off toward Camp Williams and south last year. The recent fires have moved quite a few as well. I'd look at the Wasatch front closer.

If you are in Lehi just go to the back of the Oquirrhs. Up by Ofir there are some dandy bucks up high. Probably shouldn't tell people some of my spots.

I appreciate the information. I scouted up on the West side and haven't seen much. I'm just tired of seeing the little forked horns. I have been hunting since 1982 and have taken a few nice 4x4's, but I'm ready to graduate to the 30" class.

You all are awesome.
