One more video guys and I saved the best for last. If you haven't seen the others I posted they're pretty good too but I think this one turned out the best.

This hunt turned out quite well and I learned a lot from my buddy Dave and his friend Bobby. These 2 guys are some hunting kings. I didn't meet up with Dave until the 11th day of his hunt because I was helping my cuz on his bull hunt in unit 9. I showed up at the right time because the bulls just started talking the morning I arrived.

When I finally showed up I ended up missing the morning hunt because I'm a wus and needed some sleep. I meet up with Dave at camp for lunch. As we sat at camp talking about his hunt we kept hearing bugles above us at camp. So we decided to see if we could get on one of these bulls. This is were the video starts out. As you'll see on the vid we got on a couple of small bulls but couldn't close the distance on the bigger bull. After our noon hunt we drove to a spot to listen for some bulls and it didn't take Dave long to find a nice bull but unfortunately it was already dead.

The video picks back up the next morning where we find ourselves right in the middle of some good rutting action. We closed the distance on one of the bigger bulls only to watch him circle around us at about 100 yards. As we were watching this bull disappear in the trees our hopes of getting a shot at him were also disappearing with every step he took. When out of nowhere we hear the loud crash of antlers. The rest of the video is pretty much self explanatory from there on. Once again its well worth it to watch it in High Quality and be sure to turn the volume up on this one. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.

Linky no worky. Says video is private. The other ones are really cool, thanks for sharing.

I was wondering the same thing....was it a fight or an arrow that did him in ?

Great Video once again.

Post somemore.

We called the game and fish and showed it to them. They concluded that he died from a fight.

Keep em coming! Excellent video, excellent bull. Getting me pumped for my upcoming archery hunt in NM.

X--

That video was great. I love the roll footage without narration. It is so much more entertaining to me. So the first bull was already shot by another guy? What a waste.

Your bull was gnarly as they get. Loved the beams and big inline. One thing I noticed was he shot him in the tricep. My 6B bull died exactly the same way/speed as that bull with the same shot!

Great work. Those X-Forces handle business!!! Just watch that bone!

A whole lot of luck is all I can say. Here's the story to that hunt that goes into more detail than what is seen on the video.

I had a great time on my 2006 elk hunt in unit 10. I saw and heard a good amount of elk except for the first day because I didn't get to my spot until 10:30 and by then everything was quiet and the bulls didn't start up again until sundown so that day was a bust.

The second day was good woke up and had bulls bugling 1/4 mile from where I camped but the wind was all wrong for calling so I had to try to get in front of the elk and after 2 hours of doggin the elk I finally got in to a good position to call. I was hunting alone so calling was tough for me. On average I could get bulls to only come in to about 100 yards and then they'd hold up with a few exceptions. I positioned myself between 2 herd bulls and began calling. They were both interested but only one moved in closer. He came in fired up! When he got between 100 to 75 yrds he held up and began raking a tree so I snuck up within 50 yrds while he continued to thrash the tree. I could only see his back three points and worried that the front points might be all broke up so I decided to wait for him to finish raking. After another 5 mins which felt like 50 mins he finally stopped. He was a good 6x6 bull with not even a chip. I guessed him between 350 and 360 very nice bull. But he walked strait away and never offered a good shot. I worked this bull for another 30 mins with no success so I called it a morning and backed out with plans to hunt this area in the evening.

That evening I got into some great elk action there were bulls out bugling and checking the wallows as early as 2:00 pm. I called in a few bulls but nothing worth shooting just yet. Here some pics from video I took that night.

I saw a lot of broken bulls on this hunt.

Compared to the start of my hunt the next few days were awesome! I had shot opportunities every time I went out. Trying to hunt, call and video all by yourself is very hard to do and I blew it more than once on a couple of true trophy class bulls because I tried to get the kill on video. Having a video camera around my neck and trying to video bit me in the butt on more than one occasion. Here's some video pics I was lucky enough to capture of these days of hunting.

After 5 days of trophy hunting I only had one more evening to hunt so I decided to shoot the next bull that offered me a good shot no matter what the size. I've never shot an elk and I wanted some meat. I already had plenty of chances to get a trophy bull now it was time to get my first bull under my belt.

After calling to this bull for 30 mins he finally offered me a perfect 30-50 yrd broadside shot don't know the exact yardage because I never ranged it. I got lucky and was able to drop the bull with my first shot. I then was able to run up and put another arrow in him to finish him off. I was even lucky enough to get the kill on video it was the most exciting 30 minutes of my hunt by far.

Here's some video pics of my bull the evening before killed him. I had him at 25-30 yard but decided to let him walk.
