I have 13 points for elk and i am a nonresident.I am trying to find a hunt i have chance of killing a 350-360 bull, any suggestions.

With that many points I can only assume that you're after a rifle tag. You're not quite to the point where your guaranteed a tag on the premium units, but you can absolutely have a chance at a 350 bull on most of the units in the state if you know the right spots.

You could almost count on a tag on wasatch/nebo/manti type units but may still be a couple years from the top units. It all comes down to how much time do you have to spend. If your hunting time is limited wait and put your eggs in the premium unit basket. If you have time and/or people to take you around you can get what you're looking for on many of Utah's units.

Are you DIY or guided?

Have you checked the odds on Indian Peaks for NR

Yes, i want to rifle hunt and i am diy.I dont know if should wait for an early tag in premium unit or put in for a late tag with quality slipping or go with a lesser early tag.I like the idea of hunting bugling bulls.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-21-09 AT 08:04PM (MST)[p]I have never looked at indian peaks is it Utah?

indian peaks is the sw desert unit it used to be called indian peaks , lots refer to it as indian unit still. but dwr calls it sw desert. indian peaks is part of the mtn range that the unit is on.
it is a great unit! used to be the best in the state until the other units caught up to it. which in my opinion is still one of the best! defintnetly a great chance at a 350+bull can be tough to hunt and does get pretty hot also it is a desert. it is all cedars and juniper. and it is thick! thats one reason there are such huge bulls on it. one of the more famous bulls to come off it is the "goofy bull" google it...quite a neat bull its huge belive it was 434 ish gross. anyway units like monroe, beaver, pahvant, sw des., boulder, san juan, have all been producing great bulls every year for several years. monroe is where spider bull is from.it has always been a good unit never great in my opinion til the last couple years. this year it produceed some great bulls. anyway dont think oyu could go wrong with any that i listed but may still take a couple years to draw those units with a rifle tag. if you archery hunted you could just about have your pick on any unit with 13 pts
any unit in utah has a legitament chance at 350 bulls. after my hunt this year on panguitch lake id advise to stay away from it until they get rid of the spike elk hunts on it. ive heard bad things about oak creek also.

theox mentioned the best units. If you're looking at the possiblity of the late rifle, it seems like bigger bulls come off the beaver unit on the late hunt than the early.

I'd decide when you want to hunt, with possible changes to seasons, next year is really the only year that you know for sure when you would be able to hunt. If you want to hunt a bull during the rut for sure with a rifle, I'd suggest you get one while you can next year, even on a lesser unit.

There's some good guys on this site that will help you out, especially if you have something in return for them (hunting in your area or $$$, whatever)

of those units that you could probably draw I would go for either wasatch, manti, or the deep creeks.

350 Bulls are everywhere on Diamond Mountain? There are some issues with access to public land on Diamond Mountain, but it is not an impossible situation. 350 Bulls are every where on Diamond? Really?
