AZ Unit 10 Archery Tag

after 12 years of trying I got lucky and pulled a tag. has anyone hunted this unit archery. Any tips?

Can be fun can be tough! Scout alot as the elk can be anywhere and will move around a ton. We kill great bulls every year there but it does take some work. pm me with questions

You waited 12 years, so remember to have fun on the hunt and make killing a bull a plus and not the make or break. You just never know what the rut will bring and where the bulls will be in a high desert unit. Hunt north of Pica Camp. Tons of country on the Aubreys and you will find elk there for sure. Locate Keseha and Round Mnt. Great archery areas.

+1 Clark, I had that tag a few years ago, and had a great hunt. Still think of it daily. I never fired a shot on this hunt, and it may have been the best hunt I have ever been on. We could have killed numerous small bulls almost daily, but never could get a shot at the one I wanted, but we had some close calls.

The Elk on this unit move around like crazy. Be mobile and keep moving. I found elk everyday, but I had to travel alot.

I'm curious how many bonus points you had. I have a buddy who thought he'd draw for sure with 12 non-res. points, but he didn't. It seems that perhaps it is taking more points to draw unit 10 archery than in the past, at least for non-res.

I had 12 BP plus the loyalty point = 13

CAelknuts thats very interesting i had 12 points going into this year also.I thought i could draw unit 10 no problem with 12 N.R. points guess i was wrong.I was very close to putting in for unit 10 but changed my mind and put in for unit 1 which i thought would be harder to draw, and i drew go figure.

I had 13 non-res points going in and drew permit # 16.
Now if the unit gets good rain on top of the moisture it has been hit with could be some nice bulls from what I am hearing.
Killing them with a sharp stick is another huge step no matter what the moisture brings in antler growth.
It will be fun trying.
