Drew AZ 23 South Archery Elk

Since I'm rapidly approaching senior citizen status, I thought it was appropriate to cash in my 15 AZ non-res. pref. pts. I drew 23 South archery and was wondering if there is anyone out there with any knowledge of this area that they are willing to part with. Anything at all would be helpful, even if it's something as simple as a good general location to camp. I will be scouting the area in mid July and plan on talking to everyone I can. This is a once in a lifetime hunt, so I don't want to leave any "stone unturned". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is an incredible area for a potential monster so congratulations on the tag. We took a big one a couple years ago that grossed 419 and netted an official 410 P&Y. A very tough unit if you don't know the area. You must have some knowledge of the unit to have put in for it. That is one of my favorite areas and I'm in there all the time. Good luck with your hunt and maybe I'll see you scouting for your hunt sometime.

I know he didn't offer but word of advice......hire Rod. He may already be booked but you should contact him right now. Maybe he would even do a scouting package for you if a guided hunt were out of your budget.
