LAST EDITED ON Jul-23-10 AT 11:18AM (MST)[p]I took this picture of a big bull about a week ago. He was catching some rays in a mountain meadow in the late afternoon. It's too bad he is nowhere near where I will be hunting. Any thoughts on what he might score? Also, please scroll down and share your thoughts on the trophy cow pics.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-25-10 AT 07:45AM (MST)[p]I think he is a touch bigger than most, 330-340 would be my score. Not too much length on the front tines. I have a 310 bull on the wall in front of me, no doubt the one in the picture is bigger and will fill out a little more before he is done growing...

Beautiful bull and would make a nice trophy

I gonna say 315-320, Probly will finish out at about 330, Nice bull though and I wouldn't throw rocks at him.

I think you guys are overestimating him. He may grow a little more but the velvet makes him look like he's got more mass than he does. I bet he's only in the 300" range.

I think he will end up in the high 330 or low 340's. Nice Bull I would take him If I had a dang elk tag this year.

320 seems a solid estimate, give or take 10 inches. Absolutely is an excellent bull elk in about any unit in any state. Not many 350+ elk hit the ground each year though to read the magazines and watch tv you would think so.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-23-10 AT 08:14AM (MST)[p]Short fronts and 3rds hurts his score. This bull is a perfect example of how many hunters overestimate score. He is a great looking bull, a 6x7 to boot. But, he isn't going to score super high. Most hunters would take one look at this bull and assume he was high scoring and shoot. I really think that magazines and hunting videos have given many hunters unrealistic expectations when it comes to score. Forget the score. It is a nice bull, if you like him shoot. Don't worry about what he scores or about how high scoring the bull your buddies uncle shot last year was. It isn't a contest.

310-320 is where this bull will end up with is my guess.

Short tines, Narrow inside spread

LAST EDITED ON Jul-23-10 AT 10:31AM (MST)[p]Thanks to everyone for replying with their thoughts. I don't have much experience in judging elk, so I am grateful for your responses.

Let's see if we can add some more difficulty to this post. I took this picture of a cow within minutes of the bull pic. How do you think she will score? It's hard to tell but I believe her to be a 7 nippler with a 14.5" inside spread. Her fourth nipple has incredible mass, but the #2 is lacking in girth and has a couple of odd shaped warts. Nipple #1 looks to have been damaged by a sharp toothed calf, but overall I believe her to be a trophy specimen. What are your thoughts?

My first impression was that bull wasnt even 300, but looking at the guesses it seems I could be way off. I have a 270 6x6 bull at home, and this doesnt look a heck of a lot bigger to me.

Looks like a yearling and needs to grow up somemore before she would actually be considered a trophy, I give her a 2 and she will probly finish out about a 6-7.

I am with some of the others. I see that bull having a hard time hitting 300. That bull walks on my elk tag.

well there you go

I am with the guys saying that bull is somewhere around 300 but not much more. Great bull and a shooter in any OTC unit.

Does anyone know anything about these Hanford bulls? Seems weird that photo's of that big non-typical have never surfaced before.
