Just wondering what the price range is for a guided mule deer hunt in Oregon. I have been applying for the last 10 years for the Juniper muzz hunt, and although I have always hunted on my own, the reality is I don't want to waste any time on a once in a lifetime hunt looking in the wrong areas, where as a guide who lives and works in the area knows where to start looking. Mainly set on the Juniper muzzleloader hunt, but if anyone has any other suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeff

Jeff Juniper Muzzleloader is a great tag. For a fully guided hunt you are looking at between 3500-5000 depending on the number of days who your guide is and a few other things. alot of this depends on if the guide has the unit flown and a few other things that some of the guys do.

With 10 points if you are a resident you would stand a chance in the next 4 years to draw this tag. If you are a non-resident with 10 points you are looking at atleast 8 years before you would even stand a chance. as the guide and outfitter tag program makes the process alot longer.

I know the Guide/Outfitter tag for this hunt sells for between 7500 and 10k depending on accomodations. Next choice hunt would be 170M the Hart Mtn. Muzzleloader hunt. You are also 5-12 years out for that tag. Finally would be the Trout Creeks there are still some good bucks in those units but most fully guided hunts are going to run you anywhere from 3500 to 4500 you would be looking at 1-2 years for this tag.

Hope this helps you out a little and good luck in next years draw.

Thanks for all the great information Dave, it's greatly appreciated! I think I will stick with the Juniper hunt and hope the tag gods are kind in the next few years. Hey, also I hope you didn't worry to much about the Babe issue. I think many of us live in areas where we have pet deer in town and in my opinion it would be pretty tough to shoot a town deer you see daily. It all comes down to what you consider hunting, I think some of my most memorable hunts were some of my smallest bucks. Don't get me wrong I would die to shoot a buck like babe, but I would have to feel good about the way it was taken. Thanks again Dave. Jeff
