My little girl asked me when we were going hunting. Well we went, and got us a nice yearling cow.
She thought it was a bit gross and was afraid it would come back to life. But in the end she helped me cut her up and took the ivories for her own.
She couldn't help pack though, says it was "to heavy"
It was a great time with my girl.

Congratulations to both of you. Family hunting is what it is all about.

.300 remington ultra mag. Guess I should just put RUM.
I went with a 28" barrel. It is long. Meant for a long ranger and it does shoot well for distance. Though this cow was all of 200.

Wasn't sure if a 300 rulm was something new.Must be a custom gun you had built for you ? Looks nice !

Started out a christensen arms hunter model, 26" barrel, Laminant wood stock. Since then I have a new thumbhole mcmillan stock, mag box extension, Timney trigger, accurized action, 28" shilen barrel. Pretty much rebuilt the gun off the titanium 700 action. Also have put on a huskema scope. It is a long ranger for sure, was fun doing the long range thing this year. But out she stepped at 200 and that was all she wrote.

Funny thing is, I mostly bowhunt. Only the 2nd animal killed with a gun in like 5 years. Fun to shoot though.

Getting into loading now. Just something more to spend money on.

Congrats on being such a great dad and the freezer meat. Makes a guy smile getting his little girl out and letting them experience the joy of it all. I got a cow with my oldest boy a couple years ago when he was 8 and hope to do it again with my daughter this year when she is 7. There will be few memmories that she will cherrish more. Way to go!

Jason it was great that she was with ya and got to see how it all works and got see all that good meat that will be in the freezer.
Back to the packing, child labor laws pop into mind LOL, next year she will be ready to help pack.

Awesome taking your kid hunting and great job on getting an elk. These are priceless moments. Again, nice job all the way around!
