Info MT elk unit 393 or 312

Looking to possibly bow hunt elk in one of the above units. I had read that the Crazy Mtns in the north part of 393 had more elk per sq. mile of habitat than in any other region in the state. Would like to hear from anybody who has hunted North of Bozeman or the Crazy Mtn area.

Hunted 315 last year. Big BUST! Road I camped on should have had 2, 3 or 4 other camps, but it had about 20. Seems that 4 out of 5 hunters were residents looking for a place to hunt since "wolves are in my regular area". Hunted hard for 6 days and saw one bull briefly, 0 cows, and lots of hunters. Dont know much about 393, but west half of Crazy's isn't such a good plan, at least it wasn't in 2010.

Lots of good private land but there is much better public land hunting to the south of those units. I wouldn't elk hunt in 312 if you paid me. Much better hunting elsewhere unless you are into working your butt off for a dink.

Any comments on the East Pioneer's, unit 331 nw of Dillon?
