I just wanted to show off the awesome taxidermy work that Paul Pennie, aka BLT, did for me on my big bucks from 2007. He had the buck on the right done in Feb. of 2008 and finished the one of the left about a month or so ago. I had originally taken the buck on the left to another taxidermist, but had to take it back as that taxidermist didn't really want to ever work on my stuff. Promises, promises, but dropped the ball.

Anyway, Paul Pennie got the job done AND DONE RIGHT!! They look awesome! Don't you guys agree? They are the best pieces of work I have....hopefully he can top them with my bucks from 2008...(hint, hint Paul!!)
Paul has treated me right....great work and great turn-around time.

PS - I know a number of you have used Paul yourself. Let's see the work!! Post pictures!

The pictures really just don't do the fine detail work justice, but....

Kudos to Paul,I've got to agree, he's the best in the biz! I've had the chance to be on hunt with Paul, chasing big bulls and he's a stud. He treated Dad well in doing the (88 bull) and we're happy to be friends. Great work, nice bucks Bri.

Can't wait to see the 08' mounts!

Paul is one fine taxidermist.
I'm getting fussier all the time & those are superb.
Congrats to you and Damn nice mounts......

Brian..your mount is sweet. I saw it in Paul's shop when I dropped my buck off there last month. Have to figure out how I'm getting this one done.

Here's a pic of my deer from 07' that Paul mounted...

Great looking mounts! Some of the best I've seen.

One thing I noticed those is it seems like the muscles trend going. I think they are "exaggerated". I can't really explain it well but rarely have I see the muscles so defined in mule deer espically in those positions. Looking at a lot of photos I just don't see it. Nevertheless, its still by far the best work I've seen done on mule deer.

Where does he get his bases? Does he do them himself or does he hire them out? I love that look, he is an artist not a taxidermist.

Paul is second to none in the entire country IMO
(and in many others).

His deer are almost better than real life!!

Hey guys thanks for the comments on the mounts, It was a fun one to do, Brians colo buck was a brute, one of the biggest forms I have had to custom make to fit It had a 28" neck with a 8" eye to nose measurement, just huge...My bases are built by wade hanks in mapleton he does a great job, I have some new stuff that will be at the expo that wade has done for me,His bases really complete a good mount....Thanks again Paul

Well you got it going on bud. Not only are those two great bucks but your abilities really make them look alive. Darn fine work. You as well as Founder are to be congratulated. Both jobs Well Done!!!

Great looking mounts and bucks! Congrads! I am curious which mannikans you used for them? Thanks!

Have looked at his work at the shows---at first I thought the detail was too much but now I would like to have him mount some for me. Beautiful detail work and great mounts and photos !!!

Beautiful mounts Brian, thanks for sharing

The forms are McKenzie semi sneak and upright wall forms that I have modified to be pedestals with a coved back, Also I use a Mckenzie change out head on my big mature mule deer bucks, and also I sculpt a few added detail, jaw line e.t.c. In responce too post # 14 you are correct some of the detail in this piece is not anatomically correct,I pose the animals the day they are mounted with the customer, and go muscle detail, ear set, eyes e.t.c. and do what the customer likes, sometimes as a taxidermist you can stylize a mount to much,In a competition you would get docked for this, as these are a commercial mount....

I think they look awsome with more detail, My buddy is a taxidermist and says the same thing about it not being correct, but I am going to get him to do my mounts this way.

BLT, do you know what Wade uses to get the bark off of his ceader trees, I plan on makeing my own base like this one, and am looking for the best way to strip the bark off. Thanks.

How much does Paul charge for a deer shoulder mount??
Most likely just a wall mount, not a pedestal.

Here are a couple of more mounts that Paul has done. He did these for my wife and Mother in Law, he has been great to work with and a true artist/professional.

Thanks Paul.
