There are a lot of different options when it comes to whitetail hunting.
Do you want a diy hunt? You can hunt public land and hunt spot and stalk out west in states like Montana or Idaho, or you can come to the midwest and secure some leased land. You can also hunt public land, but you will need to do a lot of scouting, and even then chances aren't great you'll get a trophy.
There are also a lot of options for Outfitted hunts. If you want a good chance at a big whitetail, you'll want to go to the midwest, or Canada. Hunting a good stand on good land in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas etc. you will almost certainly get a shot at a nice deer. Sask, Alberta, even Manitoba will also get you a good chance, but it will cost more. If you go to Canada, you will probably sit on the stand from Sunrise to Sun-down, hoping one of the few deer in the area come through (they often use bait in Canada.) Just remember unless you are hunting one of the western states, you will probably be stand hunting.
