With the nebo part of the central unit not opening until wednesday, how much more crowded will the rest of the unit be? There are alot of people who usually hunt the nebo. Good luck to all.

The Oquirrh/Stansbury unit does not open unit Wed as well and there are alot of people who hunt it so where they gona go? Should be interesting.

This is exactly why micro-managing units is needed. Dont over-crowd another area because one area is struggling. Also, no reason for two Opening Days. If Nebo was its own unit they could issue the proper amount of tags for that area. They could also issue tags for the other units without fear of over hunting them. I just dont understand Utah's management practices with deer.

Ktc I'm right with you on that one. It comes down to money, if they micromanage an area that could handle say 500 hunters then where do the other 10000 go? They wouldn't be able to sell there 90k tags. But I'd still rather hunt every 3 years on a better unit than every year on a lesser unit.

I have a pretty good idea where they will all be.....
I have a central tag and am not hunting on the opening weekend for this reason.

I will be hunting with my dad and bro in northern though, can't skip the opener all together...

Andyman, I am pretty sure that you are right...Everone in the central unit is going to one place, I just hope there is enough parking...:)
I think that the DWR did it this way so that anyone that is gonna shoot a 2pt will shoot it on a different part of the unit and Nebos herd can grow faster.

It's all about the good times...

I am going to go up Saturday morning in the Tooele-Stansbury unit with a stack or Guidebooks and hand them out to all the idiots who I am sure are going to show up thinking the hunts start Saturday and no nothing about it opening on Wednesday.

The fish and game has had signs posted at the bottom of every canyon in the area since the bowhunt with the dates of the shortened archery and ML hunts and the new opening dates of the rifle hunt. I bet there will be people this weekend still thinking they can hunt. I have heard of at least one person not realizing the ML hunt closed on Sunday and was hunting the following Monday and got caught.

My wife and I are paitently waiting for Wednesday when she can start hunting.

The fact that the Nebo is closed until Wednesday hasn't stopped people from hunting it. I took a friend scouting last night only to see guys in orange packing their rifles. I love Utah.

I know the area I have hunted all my life was more crowded than I have ever seen it. I don't know what kind of impact it will have on the deer, but it sure made a difference in our hunt. I'm guessing we had a bunch of new folks from the nebo area. Not a good thing in my opinion.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-19-09 AT 04:12PM (MST)[p]The Sheep Creek, Diamond Fork area was a joke on Saturday.
tons of people and few deer. It seemed like they diverted highway 6 up that way. We only heard a few shots all morning and maybe two that night.
Maybe it was becuase 75% of the people were in trucks or on quads. The hi-light of the day was the girl in the pink bikini
at one campsite.

Had 20 guys that hunt the Nebo unit that hunted by us on Saturday, our family decided we are going to hunt the Nebo opening day so they can get a feel for the overwhelming pressure we felt Saturday, I recommend you all do the same and maybe the F & G will do something about it! I agreee on micro mananging its the only answer to overcrowding and keeping deer numbers to what we all want.

Alot of people in our area as well, lots of does and fawns my son and I hiked for 7 hrs we seen 48 head of does and fawns but no bucks good luck to all
