Well it started like anyother hunt. You pack everything three times to make sure you got it all. Then you load the packs and the wheelers and off you go! Well I started out of Elko the afternoon before the season to pack in and be ready for the opening morning. As I got on the freeway a truck started flashing his lights and I noticed my pack had fallen off the truck. i hit the next offramp and came back and found that someone had picked it up! My spotting scope and tripod and all my gear and tag! After a few hours of buying the necisitys I was back on my way. We packed in and waited for sun up. We glassed the best looking Muley country you can imagine but could only turn up 4 deer and the largest being a small 4x4. Nothing big enough to pack out of there. We pulled out and headed back to town. Next day we found a nice buck and Bryan21 made a great shot and dumped him. Next day we found our selves back on the mountain to fill my tag. The wind was blowing and the deer were holding tight in the trees. We busted aspens for hours but had no luck with anything big. The fourth day we went back to where we had killed the buck a few days before. We spotted a 3x3 with what we thought was cheaters so we decided to get closer. As we snuck in we spotted my buck. After glassing him I decided to shoot. I laid accross a rock and was 300 yards away. As I touched of the round he turned to walk away. The bullet hit him high and went through the back and nicked his antler. He jumped as i reloaded and the second shot brought him down in 20 yards. We stood up and noticed a pack of wild horses had us surrounded and wasnt happy. As we walked up the hill the horses kept creeping up on us as though they wanted to trample us. I had to stop and run at them a few times to get some distance. Once we got to the deer and took all the pics and dressed him we loaded him in the RZR and headed out with horses in tow.

That's a beauty! Congratulations! I've never heard of wild horses being aggressive. Were you wearing "apple" cover scent? lol

I think they were more angry at us with the deer onboard. Maybe the scent of the deer pissed um off?

Great job sticking with it! Quite a sad start to the story. Have you checked with the local police? I know it's a long shot, but might be worth trying.

I did check with them but no luck! Checked with NDOW also.
