Driving for deer

Does anyone drive for deer anymore? I'm not talking about road hunting. I'm talking about big parties of hunters pushing a stand of aspen with others watching the escape routes. I haven't been a part of a deer drive for a long time. It seemed to work pretty well for mule deer.

I heard about guys doing this in eastern Oregon out in the sage in the 60's and 70's, they said they always had nice deer.

Every year.

We did it for decades. When there used to be deer I could place you. Drive the deer and tell you exactly were and what the deer would do. We have killed dozens of deer over the yrs right in the exact same spots. Very effective. Pots pans kids Grandma with a recurve the whole bit. I recall as a kid having deer know what was ahead and try and back track threw us kids by the dozens. Even banging pots and pans like maniacs. LOL To think back about it. It really was insane.

Now we don't have enough folks in camp and on occasion can team up with a few other camps to do a proper drive. But I would say in our neck of the woods they have been infective due to lack of deer for 10 yrs.
