anyone have any ideas on how effective rattling bucks on the wastch front would be?.

I have been seeing a nice buck in an area that is pretty thick I usually can find him from a distance but once i get on the side hill you cant see crap because of the scrub oak. I dont want to push him out by chasing him around to much and thought i would wait till they start rutting a little and maybe try rattling him in. Am i waisting my time or should i try getting a spotter with a radio and stalking him?

You'll probably have way better success with raking. Take a big shed antler and rake it on brush and trees and burp your way into that thick stuff. He'll think you are another buck and will come in to kick your ass.

Yes burping works way better!!!

The harder you work the luckier you get!!

Yup a burp. I suck in air and let out loud little burps. Works like a hot damn. Combine a raking antler and you'll see some serious action. That is how I sneak and peek through the timber during the Nov season. I can calm does so they just let ya walk past and it can cause a buck to come unglued and come in with his ears back spittin mad.

Guys;

Thats some great information !!!!!

I will try it on the strip.

I should add the size of the raking antler does matter. You want to piss off a big buck, you need to sound like a big buck. A big antler has a heavier sound than a tinkley little antler. You want to piss of little bucks, use a dinky antler. They won't bother coming in to the sound of a big antler as they know they'll get their asses kicked.
