Wow, overall some really good guesses on these two bucks. Looks like buck number 1 tricked a good number of guesses and a penalty will result in going over. Again thanks for the support and playing.

Here are the results:

Buck 1 Scored 171 3/8
Buck 2 Scored 155

For a total 326 3/8

With Guess #119 SLCMULEY was as close as they can get with out going over. SLCMULEY guessed

The total came up 323 3/8 making the guess only 3 points off and this weeks winner. Congratulations SLCMULEY

I am taking the next two weeks to vacation and when I get back we will finish up the last 3 contests to see who takes home the new bow. Thanks for playing

I was one of the ones who missed high on buck #1. :-(

The penalty wasn't too bad though, I missed high on buck #1 by 6" and low on buck #2 by 5" so I although I was only off on the overall by 1", if we tabulated each buck individually I would have been off by 11" which is what I end up with the penalty added in.

I mentioned it on the main post, but I'm going to be out of town and am not sure when I'll be able to get the results posted. Hopefully tomorrow evening sometime, but no guarantees.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-11 AT 10:45PM (MST)[p]Interesting week for myself. Knowing the rules going in, i felt that i needed to nail this one to even have a chance at moving back up anywhere near the leading contenders.

I figured 2 1/8 over on buck #1
i figured 1 6/8 under on buck #2
I missed the total score by 3/8"

I again didn't do well as the penalty for being over will hurt but i did really like this weeks contest including the "kicker". Considering that my total for two nice bucks was only 3/8ths off, i can hold my head up

Edit; did anybody else think buck #1 was a solid 180 class buck at first glance? I know i did but my numbers for him wouldn't add up to that. That's one dandy 170 class buck!

I was over 5/8 on the first one and 3 inches on the second one go figure.Looks like I'm takeing over last place oh well.

Awwww crap! I missed out on this one! There goes one of the drops I was counting on! Oh well I was way out of it. I would hvae overscored the first buck pretty high. Ouch.

*%&# i missed it by 1.3 inches and now its going to be 11.3 inches on my score. The going over penalty was a bad idea now that i went over lets just scratch that rule for this one!

Gator, I believe both Tdahobuckfever and myself were off by 2/8 as were you. I will be penalized by being over by 2/8 even thogh I along with you two had the best guess on buck number 1. Oh well it is Monarchs contest I feel good about winning the last two contests I don't bow hunt any way so don't know what I would have done with a bow. Oh well know I won't have to worry about it. Give that first buck eyeguards and he is 180's. you lose alot of score when you dont get all the mass measurements

LAST EDITED ON Jun-13-11 AT 12:35PM (MST)[p]sageadvice---I haven't been in the contests, but looking at those pictures I also thought that better buck was a solid 180 or a little better. If I see one like that, I know for dang sure that in the area I hunt that he will have some lead thrown at him!

one_dryboot---I think that is where I messed up and over-scored him because he's slick and that lost him a lot of inches. I sent an email and PM off to Ute and already got an email back from Teryn that he is going to be able to help us out on the NM hunt. Thanks buddy!

Boot & Gun, I believe that you do get all four mass measurements even if there are no eyeguards just like you get 4 mass measurements even on a 3 point frame. I gave # 1, 38" of mass, but you're right in that nice eyeguards would really help him and that buck just doesn't appear at first glance to be a 170 class buck.

That's a buck i shoot on a "good" hunt and not worry about what he scores. He's a shooter and when i see a "shooter", i know it, regardless of score. Thanks!

I gave him 173 when I was scoring him and then chickened out with the penalty and dropped my score. Glad I did.
