Anyone have any information about this area? Curious to hear what fellow MMR's are hearing, knowing, or saying about this hunt. If anyone would care to share some information, it would be appreciated.
My dad had a doe tag on it nearly 30 years ago. We saw a few buck including one that I thought was very big. If I remember the issue correctly, it's a migratory herd, and therefore, it could be a hit or miss area. Since I am not quite 40, I know I did not imagine him, but the big buck is still growing.
I had a late season, **either sex** tag there about 30 years ago too. I shot a 4x4 w/ eyeguards, 30 1/4" outside spread. I still enjoy looking at that buck on the wall, he brings back fond memories. I haven't been back since. (I have a cool story about the stalk and the shot but this isn't the time or the place)
i had the either sex tag in 1976- went down there on Thanksgiving weekend for 4 days- figured it was a gimme on a super buck-of-a-liftime. I can still taste the tag soup. Of course, I knew a lot more then than i do now.
my brothers good buddy shot a heck of a buck down there last year with a rifle on thanksgiving day, it was at least 180, probably bigger. but that kid is the luckiest person i have ever met when it comes to drawing tags and killing big animals. never hunted it myself.
