Well it all started back when it was time to put in for Utah's draw.I thought of a friend that passed the first of the year among Family and Friends he left behind Max Elk points and his dream of his first Bull Elk.Knowing how short life can be I started thinking what was I missing on my Hunting to do list.A velvet Buck for my Man Cave! With only bagging A fork horn as my only deer with a bow when I stoped Archery hunting about 20 years ago when Utah made you choose your weapon.I hunt out of state every year so I don't have time or cash to be in the Dedicated hunter program to hunt all three weapon's. So I decided I was going to put in for an Archery tag untill I drew. With Only having 4 points and knowing 7 wasn't a sure bet in the Book Cliffs I was going to put in every year untill I got it.Well as luck would have it I got it this year.Taking my Brother inlaw and a good Friend too enjoy the fun. We hunted the first day seeing and chasing lots of good bucks.I was hoping for a monster but on the second morning with my help leaving in a couple of hours to get back to work. We ran into this heavy 4x3. After an perfect 30 yard lung shot he went
less than 50 yards and layed down 15 feet from a Road! How lucky was that!So now I have my velvet Buck. Not the big one I was hoping for but I got him with family and friends and thats what it is all about. Because you never know when it might be your last hunt!

Congrats on getting it done and doing it your way. Nice velvet buck and sounds like a great hunt that you will remember.

Great story and pics. Congrats on checking something off of your bucket list. I know I will be reevaluating my hunting bucket list and hopefully begin being able to check more of them off. Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks for letting me hang out on your hunt. I had a grea time. What could be more fun than time spent with family and friends hunting muledeer. To me the killing is a added bonus.
