My daughters first deer

LAST EDITED ON Oct-04-13 AT 09:56PM (MST)[p]Both my kids drew Wyoming deer tags this year. It was the first deer hunt for both them. My daughter gave up first shot to her little brother and he bag the four point buck I posted a couple days ago. We hunted hard today trying to find a buck for her but the weather wouldn't cooperate. The clouds keep us from being able to glass so we headed to the low sage country. We found this doe before dark and she decided to take it. She made a 150 yard shot to claim her prize. It is so special to hunt with your kids. Katey I am so proud of you. Thank you for making memories with me. Next year we will find that big buck.

Congratulations to your daughter! What a lucky father you are.
I bet your kids are just as proud of you as well.
Memories for life.
Best,
Jerry

That is a great story, congrats on everyone being successful! Also glad to hear that you let her "choose" which deer to shoot, I think that is very important! :)
Congrats again.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

Congrats to your daughter on her first deer. You all had a real successful hunt in many different ways.

Nice job. Its a good feeling when you can choose what you want to shoot for a kid.

It's so funny to see how excited my daughter is about this deer. She looks it up on Monstermuleys several times a day to see if people have commented. I wish it would have been a flaming story with a view all but none the less a new deer hunter is born. Thanks to those that commented .

Well done! Congrats to both of your kids. I'll be in Wyoming at the end of the week with my son to hopefully harvest his first deer. I think I'm more excited then he is.

Way to go. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to go. I have to agree it's great that you let your daughter shoot what ever legal deer she wanted to. If kids go several years without being able to pull the trigger they'll more than likely loose interest in hunting. Good Job Katey!!! I think it would make a beautiful mount with your daughter's first deer and your son's fist deer together on a pedestal mount.

Great job Katey! It makes me as a fellow sportsman proud to see a young lady out in the field chasing game. So many girls your age would rather stay indoors texting or "facespacing" instead of spending time outdoors with Dad. You should feel very proud of your self for your success in taking that fine deer.

Dad very nice job showing your daughter about hunting instead of just telling her about it, you all did very well!

Great Job Katey! Makes me think of my first deer that I shot. I kept going back out garage every half hour to look at it hanging off the rafters. I would replay the hunt each time in my mind and think of shot that did the deed. Great memories!

VERY awesome!!!!!! You should post in the Youth section too! (if you haven't already....)

There is NOTHING that compares to hunting with your children!

How are you going to eat them? Are you making any jerky for the kids?

I look forward to seeing your pictures of the 2 deer mounted together. I would like to do that if I only had the room.

That is awesome! I take my son to region D on Sunday for a freezer filling spree and I can't wait! It'll be his first year behind the gun as well. I've been waiting for 12 years for this hunt. I'm glad your kids were successful....and being able to look past the antlers soley as the trophy. That doe will taste mighty fine. Congratulations to all of you!

What a great hunt! You probably cannot imagine how much your father appreciates this time with you, Katey. Enjoy these moments while they last.
