Guess the age......

There has been a lot of talk on here lately about age and genetics and what classifies a mature buck. I took this buck this last year on the bookcliffs muzzleloader. After i got the tooth results back I was very surprised at the age. How old do you all think this buck is?

I'll say 6.5-7.5, looks like his bases flare out a lot. do you have a side pic of his head? Hard to tell from this pic though.

4.5 to 5.5 years old would be my guess. That buck looks young to me. Great buck though!

While your post makes me think older, I'd guess he is a 4 year old deer...

Light grey forehead; looks like a notched ear on the right side? Body looks big. So hard to tell from a pic, but I'll say he's at least 6 or 7; maybe older. But then, I've been wrong before...

It's tough to tell from that single pic. But I'm thinking he's at least 6. I don't know enough about the habitat and specifics in the Book cliffs to get in trouble, but in SE Wyoming, he could be really old.

I just did a European mount so that wouldn't help much or any side photos but like most of you I was thinking he was going to be 3 or 4 but he is an 8 year old buck. Nice work elkassasin. I'm no expert on this but I am assuming he was starting to digress in points and size but I dunno. I wish I could have seen what he was like 2 or 3 years ago.

Here is a pick of the euro just for fun. He is about 24 inches wide and 27 tall.

I'm thinking an old buck with not so great of genes, maybe even in the regress side. Around 8.5 years old. If he is an old buck that's a great accomplishment, he's been around many hunting season.

There is a lot of that gene pool out there. Probably some digression, but he probably never was much bigger than that. Great looking Euro mount!
