Montana Mule Deer

Here are a couple pictures from the hunt my father & I had together this past weekend in Montana on a DIY hunt. The weather was a little chilly, winds were high, and we had to put on quite a few miles to finally start seeing the deer; but once we did, the long trek back in paid off. The deer were rutting like crazy and constantly on moving up & down the mountains. I took this guy on the 2nd day of my hunt at 162 yards. He weighed 316 lbs, and we had him gross scored at 182-5/8". I was the only one with a tag, so my dad was along just for fun. We had a blast, seen over 100+ mulies in 3 days.

Really nice harvest pictures. What kind of a camera took those pics? Congratulations on a great buck!!!

Thanks to all for the compliments. I got home late last night and dropped him off at my taxidermist. The camera I have is a Nikon D3200. This camera is a little large for packing in on these types of hunts; however i hate to leave it behind because it takes such nice pictures.

Father/Son hunts are always the most memorable, I can't think of anything I would rather do with my pops than chasing elk and muleys. Congrats on a beautiful deer, I especially like his color and the funk he has going on at his bases. Will look good on the wall!

Cool looking buck! How far did you drag him?
I sure don't miss those days of dragging deer, used to do that in MN and it could be a miserable trip.

There are many things that would be nice to wish for or say but then I would be just like him.

We were actually about 14 miles back in the hills off the main road; so it was definitely a long pack out. I shot him on the side of the mountain, so we drug him off the side of the mountain down low; and then packed him out from there.

Great stuff! Sounds like a fun hunt.

Very cool rack, going to look fine on the wall. Love hunting those rut crazy bucks. Last week in SD saw some outstanding WT buck rutting pretty good.
