Hey there guys, I just remembered that my cousin got an archery tag for deer for Fishlake. He got a spike elk tag as well since he's going to be down there anyway. His dad called to ask me what I knew about the unit, but I've never been there. This is their first archery trip ever. He's still a youth.

Just wondering if anyone had some pointers I might relay to them before they head down there next weekend.

I appreciate any guidance, as will they. They're happy to just go down and explore, but like all of us, they'd like to run into a deer or two.

Thanks guys.

I was down there for a week over the 24th of July and saw quite a few bucks up around the top of um creek road right around sheep valley reservoir

Just tell them to get up on any peak in the morning. Meaning before the sun comes up and glass. There are elk and deer everywhere. They can drive the roads and see deer and elk every morning and evening . Then they need to hike to the elk. Should be more then a mile off the road.

If they need help packing out a spike. Have him get a hold of Shane Scott Outfitting. They will call in the Marines to help with a pack out. ?Good luck to them. I just left the unit and got back to the heat. It's beautiful up there. I wish I could live up there. ?
