115 deer

hey guys ive been looking at the maps quite a bit in deciding where to go on my deer hunt and windy peak in the northern end of 115 looks like it has some potnetial. i was wondering if any of you have ever hunted it before and if so what was it like in terms of deer sightings, is it worth it or not?

Stew There is definatly some ducks up there, that is where I killed my buck last year but I scouted it quite a bit and he was the best buck I saw there out of about 35 bucks. Are you gonig to scout at all?

yeah im going to do some scouting but im trying to narrow it down as much as possible so im not wasting my time. is the access in the area around windy peak pretty good or is it mostly on foot? im not necessarily looking for a huge buck but rather just looking for something decent to fill my tag. have you hunted in 114 at all? what about up around oneal peak? i was not aware of the difficult access when i applied so im scrabbling now to find where the best place to go is as to not waste this tag.

Neither Moriah or Wheeler are what I would Call difficult access. Windy has roads all over it as does Oneal and 4 mile. The unit is actually very roaded. The only place that isn't is the Park obviously and the wilderness. Plenty of roads and plenty of deer. I just don't like to hunt where there is roads, I like to do the backpacking thing. You could scout both places in a day if you had to. There is deer and bucks in both.
