Would anyone be willing to impart any information with regard to the 1st season elk hunt in Unit 62? The unit begins south of Grand Junction and runs south to the Montrose area. This is a part of the Uncompahgre National Forest and much of the unit runs along the Gunnison River. The hunt would be during the October 9th-13th timeframe.
I know that the Northern part of the unit mostly consists of BLM, Forest Service and CDOW tract but the southern part of the unit consists of mostly private land. If anyone has information with regard to landowners that have some excellent elk hunting ground that would charge a trespass fee etc., the contact name and information would be much appreciated? If anybody knows of any decent public land hunting on this unit, I would also appreciate any data?
The unit is 4 point or better, but it looks like a good number of bulls were killed during all seasons in that area. Thanks in advance for any information!!!!
