Is there anyone that would be willing to share any info on units 481,48,49,67,69. Whats the quality of the bulls,is there much public access? This would be for a muzzle hunt. Thanks--BT

BT 49 is my unit of choice, been hunting there when I draw it since 90. I am an archery hunter. There is a lot of public ground in 49. A big chunk of 49 is wilderness area, foot and horse traffic only. I like that! Most of the bigger bulls I see in 49 are the 320-340 range. I have only seen 4-5 bulls bigger than that. The population is pretty evenly spread through out the unit. There is some really rough country in the north end of the unit. 49 is a good mix of forest and open parks. It has good water. Has a lot of area above timberline.
I have look at 481 & 48, but came back to 49.

Haven't hunt them either, but 49 would be my choice from the research I did. Had some property near there and hoped to hunt in the Buffalo Peaks wilderness, but sold the land, and never can save up enough points to hunt there. Some really pretty country and lots of elk. Would probably need to get away from the roads though.

Have you got your app. in yet.
did mine yesterday.
my daughter's not going to go this year,
to many things happening for her.
see ya out there on the dark side.

I hunted "48" 2 years ago for muzzleloader. Be in shape for this hunt. All the bulls were up at timberline and further up. Really a rough hunt. Most of the elk are in the southern part of this unit. Good luck!
