Can someone give advice on both these units - unit 66 in particular? I notice that points to draw for unit 66 archery and rifle, is only a 2-3, but for muzzleloader it bumps up to about 8 or possibly even 9 points this year. I haven't set foot on any property there, but was considering an archery or first season rifle hunt there. I would be hoping for a bull in the 300-320 class - is this even possible there? As I understand it the unit gets a lot of pressure in later seasons. It seems that success rates are fairly low for archery - is there a reason for this? Any help will be appreciated - and I would prefer a PM. Thanks.

Don't know much about 66, but I wouldn't waste many points on 67 for a bull tag. Lots of pressure and not many big bulls. I think 66 is real comparable.

Thanks for the reply. I am still hoping for some first-hand experience in either of these units - especially 66. I have received no replies other than the one above. Can anyone help?

I have hiked and hunted in almost every
square mile in 66 over the last 40

I hunted Muzzy in there last year. Lots of high country. timberline to 13,000 ft. plus. I ran into a lot of Elk mainly just above timberline. I hunted the drainages of Big Blue and Fall Creek, plus some high plateau country over by Slumgullium pass. I passed on several 5X5 and small 6X6 bulls but got into a couple of 330 class Bulls. Be in great shape before you try 66. Roy in Montrose is a great source. I talked to him several times preparing for the hunt. Thanks a bunch Roy.
