Well 15 is one of NM HOT SPOT elk units for sure . I have hunted it twice , once in HS some 14 years ago and a fourth choice mz cow hunt in 02 . Its not a slam dunk unit , the G&F reduced elk numbers a few years back , but I think the second bow hunt and first MZ bull hunts are still top notch , and a few years back they combined A&B together so now its just unit 15 , you get to hunt the whole unit so if your have trouble and want to move to the other side , its a go. I also think its pretty hunter friendly and theres plenty of unit to spread out . I like the Fox Mtn . area and the flats to the west all the way to the AZ border , but theres less elk I think , but your gonna have more traffic down near Luna anyhow , so it evens out . The weather always plays into the elk hunt , but even more so this year , but the grass may be better up in Fox and over to Slaughter Mesa holding elk , time will tell.
