Hey local kid just drew super tag for elk he has never had a chance to shoot a elk yet. I have helped them with a few units but i hunt deer mostly and chase elk with a bow. Anyone out there want to help a kid get his dream bull let me know in a pm. They aren't that experienced beyond spike units. Any info to steer them in a direction where they could start looking for Big daddy they would appreciate.

Several of the early rut hunts would be my choice for the monster bull of my dreams. Probably 40/42 first, or 48/49, and then 30/30A. When you say "kid", how young are we talking? Can he hunt on his own or is it gonna be a group hunt?

I thought the first super tag drawing was on june 15th. Are there 3 drawings or are resident drawings different ??

Yes, most likely 1 of those 10 harvest report tags. That's cool he drew. Should have a fun hunt. I dream every year of pulling one of those tags. Will probably always just be a dream though! :(

Unit 44 is a good unit. Start with that one. There is also a couple of other good units also. But would start with that one. They usually going full bore around the time that hunts starts.
How big of a bull is he looking for? Where is he from?

Shoot me an e-mail at [email protected], if you're interested. I have helped out 3-4 super tag holders the past couple years and could give you a few ideas.

Thanks,
Corey

Where does he live and want to hunt?

The early bull hunt in unit 76 would be a great choice. There are also some super bulls in the Bannock zone that would be available on the early rifle. Good bulls in the big desert unit. Also there is a couple hunts up north, one in Island Park for big local bulls and a late hunt outside of Ashton for migrating Yellowstone bulls.

Just some options over on the eastern side of Idaho

TWORIVERS,

I would be happy to share some info. on units 40/42 with you. I know last year there were not as many big bulls seen as in years past but this year looks promising. Your looking at a 350 bull if you work hard and a 360+ bull if your really lucky. There are some bigger bulls out and about down there but they are rarely seen. But hey it's possble. Really a fun hunt as the bulls really rut.

If you want somemore details email me at [email protected]

I have hunted unit 49 for deer for many years and seen some awesome bulls. I would love to have the early rifle bull tag in that unit. Good luck.
