Anybody get hits yet.

Should be starting soon.

I am thinking that next week they out to start showing up.
 
Seems a little early yet, the draw is June 21st, But you never know!!!

Please don't get me started, again! Might not be able to contain myself for another 2 states over two months.
 
i would agree w/donv...they should start showing around the 14th...last year it was about a week before the results were posted, with the results being posted the 21st (if NM can get things straight this year) then the 14th sounds about right...the draw should be taking place around the 10th, given it takes a few days for the charges to appear on your cc...i have an old college friend that works w/game and fish, i will call him and get a date the actual draw will take place

Last year the results were supposed to be posted by July 6th, but were actually posted 2 weeks earlier on June 22-23 with CC charges starting to show up the weekend just before. Hope they do the same this year and post the draw results earlier than June 21.
 
The odds for an early release would have been better had they not extended the application cut off date. I am not complaining just thinking out loud. So far, I can not complain about NM, they have been very good to us....
 
The data is loaded and audits are finished and the draw will be conducted June 16 at NM State University . They don't plan to release till the 21st. Your credit cards won't be charged just yet.
 
Once they disable the option to change your credit card information, I'd expect them to be drawing names. Surprised to see that NMG&F still have that option available on the Apps & Permits tab on their website.

Sent email questioning when draw would take place and here is the exact response I recieved back from G&F......


The draw will take place around 7 to 10 days before the results are posted on June 21.

if you go to the web site they state they will post results the day after NM.
 
I got someone to answer the phone today at the VC. They said they have run the draw and the dept has the results. They will be announced at the same time NM's results are published.
 
Should be in the next few days if not today for CC hits. Lets see who will be the 1st with good news. Don't think the CC method will work for deer though.
 
The deadline for credit card application changes was Tuesday, June 13 at 3 PM MDT. This IS a sign. How many times a day can a guy check?

you are correct, it will not work for deer as they only charge the $6 app fee and that would have been taken out a few days after you applied, if you draw they give you a voucher to buy a license...therefore you will have to wait until the 21st to know which unit you drew (if you drew), actually you may have to wait a bit longer with the expected computer crashes =0)

I don't want to jinx myself, but I have only drawn an elk tag once since I starting hunting...pretty sad for a resident. Don't want to fork over $500 for a cow tag like I did last year! The countdown for confirming this is my year is horrible... Good luck to everyone (with the exception of those who put in for my units).
 
well, called my cc company and have a charge for a whopping $1 6/13/06...the lady said it was probably to see if the acct was open or what...hopefully that charge will translate to $83 for elk and even larger charge for bighorns...there was somebody w/a pretty happy post over on the general hunting forum...

Nada yet for me...I heard a rumor that the draw was today. It might have been. Not sure. My card definately hasn't been hit yet with a charge for an elk tag from NM.
 
ixsolracxi, I responded to this on bowsite too. a $1 charge could be from someone that got ahold of your card # and they are trying to see if it is good. then they wack it. Watch your card. It would suck if you had to cancel it this late in the game.
 
Alot of the times the $1 serves as a place holder when you use you debit card like a credit card...

My card was hit last night for 3 non-resident standard tags. At least that narrows it down to two options as our first choice was a HD tag.

Time to start getting serious!!!
 
My CC got hit for Elk & Javelina. Hopefully more today.

Does anyone have the results link from last year saved in their favorites?
 
The only thing showing up on the link is the #30 dep rank for oryx that I went on in May. We put in with snail mail so we will have to wait until the results are posted for the majority of our hunts., The only CC apps were Bighorn and Ibex. Nada for me yet. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed.

Did anyone's CC actually take the hit on the weekend? Wondering if someone has to physically make the charge to your CC or the computer somehow does it. If they are done charging cards I am outta luck for elk. Hafta hope for deer now.
 
Depends on how your card company works. I have a B of A Visa and it only updates charges once a day.
 
I took a hit for New Mexico Archery Elk for my son and I ... My card has charges today sunday the 18th.

Everyone i talk to says they have a hit.But all charges say pending . we'll just have to see wendsday.dont jump the gun
 
I got hit for ibex, but have no idea what hunt. Most likely it's for my son's youth female or immature hunt. It could also be my 3rd choice archery hunt. Maybe, by some miracle, it's my once-in-a-lifetime hunt. It's my dream to hunt these animals. They are magnificent, and the terrain they live in is as brutal as anything you can find in this state. I'm just glad I'll be chasing them. Doesn't really matter what hunt.
 
NMGF website has updated message stating CC can be changed up to the 24th now.....Say What? Still lots of hope for those of us who have been in a holding pattern
 
After drawing the Valle Vidal last year, it seemed a real long shot for my buddy and me to draw Gila tags. I got hit for $1520.00 so it seems we are going for a couple more bulls.

YAAHHOOOO!!! Here we go again!!! Valle Vidal and the Gila in back-to-back years! What are the odds? Time to start beating up the stair climber again. At least this year we both won't have to buy new freezers when we get back. :)

i just got off the phone with NMGF and they said they had a outstanding amount of people that drew tags that credit,debit cards were not valid .so i asked them what they were gonna do and she told me thats why they extended the card changes deadline to the 6/24/06. my next question was if they dont get it straghtend out what will be done and she told me they will defiately not re draw those tags......THERE YOU GO SCREW THE ONES THAT DID IT RIGHT.....she also said there were alot very large amount that had problems...she said those tags WILL NOT BE ISSUED.......BULLSH$T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand your post. Or are you saying that good licenses might be taken out of the pool, and not issued to anyone, because of these dufusses?

Congrat's guys. man I am SALTY

7 years, 100 tag apps, 1 tag (40% draw odds) drawn. Now for 1% odds sheep tags I understand, but when I am missing draw odds of 20%-40% all the time it gets OLD.

Man I am sick and tired of not drawing, I avoid premium units to help my odds, and I still cannot draw, I go for bow tags, too. Unreal. Then I see guys pulling low odds tags back to back years. My buddy drew a WY elk tag 2 years in a row, 4% odds, I missed WY both years with 20% odds! This year alone I missed the following, 20%, 10%, lots of 1%, 4%, 5%, 80%(guess), 5%, 4%, 3%, 10%.

I agree. It seems that the people that follow the rules take it in the a$$.

Wait till PETA figures out they can use this procedure against us. Hopefully NMGF will change their ways to something more reasonable.

Not that it helps your situation but this wasn't my only app. This year alone I have/will apply for elk in (7) states, deer in (4), sheep in (3), moose in (3) and bear in (1).

Sorry if I soundied like I was gloating...I am just a little bit excited.

I've had enough of this and figure what happens, happens and I can not change it. If it is not posted tomorrow as promised then it is time for a few drinks to ease the pain....

griz heck you should gloat/celebrate, great tags! Am I jealous - yes! But that is the way the cookie crumbles.

I have the $$$ set aside to buy a LO tag, not a great unit but I am elk hunting, so in that respect I am lucky, was hoping for a better tag.

griz do not let me drag you down, congrat's I am just tired, was hoping for a good gila or 34 tag this year, at least a Northern NM tag, but looks like nothing.

I applied for elk (7) moose (3) mnt goat (3) sheep (5) deer (2) ibex, oryx, bison, might have missed some, same for 7 years! Drawn 1, most are long shots but many are not.

ahh well, got a 10% or so chance in AZ, maye the best is yet to come!

Congrat's to all, time to get on the phone and find a tag so I can still hunt.

Good luck, it just takes time (as you obviously know). I drew a goat tag for WY in '96 and have been pretty much 0 for 8 years until last year when we drew the VV. A couple years ago my Dad drew a Michigan bull elk tag. MI only gave out 30 bull elk tags, out of 44,000 applicants!!! It made my VV tag look easy to draw. ;-)

You gotta get in to win!

Griz can't be brought down on a day like this. We probably won't hunt anything but Michigan whitetails for the next 10 years. Then again......
 
P.S. DonV, give me a list of areas you apply for. I'll see if it's just you or if it's hard to draw. Just kidding. Want me to put you in on our party app next year? We are on a roll.
 
well...I just checked and we drew unit 16A for the 1st rifle hunt in the Gila...YAAAAHHHHHOOOOOO!!! And it was our first choice, just like the Valle Vidal last year. Somebody pinch me.

God I hope we don't draw Arizona.

Congrat's guys, good tags are hard to come by for a reason, and I undertand but many of the tags I go for are far from that and are bow in ok areas, odds are not terrible, I expect them once in a while!

I still have a shot in AZ and a long shot for an eastern elk/moose tag but not much.

Next year I have enough points for a great hunt in CO, assured to draw, so that helps. Ironically my wife and I had our first baby (girl) and I was planning NM and CO elk, I withdrew my CO app at her request to avoid having 2 hunts!

I am buying a LO tag in northern NM and going with my dad, this will be my dads 4th elk hunt, he has not get an elk yet and he needs to soon before he cannot go, it is tough because he hunts hard but not smart, he does not call or move when he sees elk. I want to get him and elk, bad. But it holds me back, since he will not spend the $$$ I will to get good tags.

Hopefully this year he will get a bull, that would make up for my bad luck (kind of).

I have enough points to get some good tags soon - I figure the next 10 years I am due for 12 great tags, so that makes me feel better.

1st gila rifle, man that is AWESOME

It sounds like you've been playing the application game for quite some time. It WILL pay off! How many points do you have for CO and what unit/weapon are you going for next year? The reason I ask is I'm at 14 now.

Good luck with your dad's hunt. One of my best hunting memories ever is when I was standing next to my Dad when he shot his Michigan bull elk a few years ago. He shot it with both of his sons on each side of him and his only brother was heard the shot. Hunting with family is the best! Let us know how the LO tag works out for you. I'm sure my little run of luck is about to slow down and I might need something like that next year.

To everyone else reading this thread I hope I didn't offend anyone with my 'irrational exuberance'. Especially last night after a few celebratory libations with my hunting buddy Shootwice. Sometimes we get a little carried away.

griz I have 7 pnts in CO and going to 76 next year

roar all you want when I get a tag like that I am telling the world!

My points will pay off, moose hunting WY whenever I want, can do a decent CO deer hunt, AZ and utah elk in the next decade, a mnt goat or sheep tag due in the next 10 years, and maybe a good NM elk tag soon, so it is good, problem is I know a lot of guys applying so I here about everyone pulling good tags and it seems like everyone but me, but really there are a lot more not hunting.

Again have a great hunt and never apologize for getting a good tag to heck with my complaining!
