me and three friend drew unit 2 ml oct. 7-11 would really appreciate any info or strategy anyone has on this area. also what stage of the rut will they be in very much bugling thanks a lot john from illinois.e-mail [email protected]

Had that tag in "02",weather was warm to warm.You will need cool weather,to have "ANY" chance.No rain,as roads are unpassible when wet !!!Have hunted elk in several Western states with Good Luck,but unit 2 is different.Elk are nomatic,water is "KEY".Passed a small bull on "Opener",last Bull I saw.No "Bugling" during hunt,because of warm weather.Maps You need are Carson National Forest & BLM "Navajo Reservoir" map.If You have NEVER hunted elk,I'd suggest hiring a Guide,if not it will probally just be a 5 day campout --- Good luck

I guide for SJR outfitters. The ML hunters I had last year went 2 for 2 for shot opportunities.

1st bull I called him in to 10 yards. Second was shot waiting in a meadow for evening hunt. -

The unit 2 bulls are vocal during the ML.

Although the resident bulls got hammered last year. Had the first late season bull hunt in December.

The past few years has been raining during those hunts and the mud can be DEEEEEEEEP!

Had guys book 2 days of guiding then after 2 days in the DEEEEP mud decided that the vehical they had could not get them anywhere near elk.
