Elk and Fire

We had a fire over the summer in the area I elk hunt here in Montana (Missouri River Breaks). It baaically burned out an entire, large coulee that historically was a good spot for the elk. I'm wondering what experience other hunters have had with situations like this. How far will the elk go to find new haunts? How quickly will they come back to the area to browse the new growth? (I've already seen some bulls in nearby areas that are black - I'm wondering if they've been down in the burn?) Would this be a worthwhile place to hunt this season or will I be wasting my time?

Any input/experience is welcomed.

Thanks, and happy hunting.

NEXT YEAR WHEN THE NEW GRASS IS GROWING
the elk should be there in good numbers.

TODAY'S THE DAY

Did it clean out the whole area or did it leave a few spots of trees and brush, If you get some rain and the grass starts growing they will be back in there this year,They will travel a good distance to feed on the new grass. I got a buck that his horns are Coal black and I shoot him in a new burn area. All the trees he had to rub on was burnt so you guessed it his horns was dark black.

In three years its going to be great, but do not overlook it this year/ those bulls love rubbing those chared up trees!!!.
