Things worked out over the weekend! I had a premium tag and we spent every spare minute trying to find the right bull to kill during the bowhunt.... without much luck. It was a rough cold start in the Fog on the Rifle opener on Saturday morning but we found that the Elk were very active that afternoon. After glassing for a few hours and looking over many bulls we located this guy just before dark. A short stalk the next morning and it was over. It was a great hunt and a great time with friends and family. He's very unique and I still wonder if I was hunting in New Zealand over the weekend. Now what do I do for the next two weeks? I guess there is always the muzz deer hunt next week!

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! That thing is frikkin pre-historic! I would shoot that bull literally on any unit, anywhere in the world, including NZ!! WAY TO GO!!!

Fantastic bull, those pictures make me think maybe you would score him typical . in any case that's a bull you'll want to have an official score on. congrats

Thanks guys.

It's to bad he broke 9" off of his left G3. His right G3 is around 21". I guess the taxi can help me out a little.

This is a fantastic bull! Congratulations on a beautiful trophy.

Take care,
Dave

Holy cow what a bull! What to do for 2 weeks? Sit and stare at that monster!

Very nice!

THE UDWR IS GOING TO THROW YOUR LUCKY ASS IN JAIL!!!

YOU CAN'T SHOOT STAGGS IN UTAH!!!

WOW!!!

ON SECOND LOOK THAT IS A DEFORMED BIG STINKY L.E. UNIT BULL,WITH A RIFLE OF COURSE!!!

IF YOU'D OF TOOK IT WITH YOUR BOW,YOU'D BE IN ALOT LESS TROUBLE AROUND HERE,LOL!!!

THATS A DANDY!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING YOU BIG BULL SHOOTERS ARE SURE MAKING ME FEEL LIKE GOING TO WORK AGAIN!!!

Wow, what a unique and awesome bull, and you got to hunt both hunts. It doesn't get any better than that. Congrats.

Scott,
Congratulations on a great bull and thanks for sharing the pictures. You may want to consider some extra shifts the next couple of weeks to help with the taxidermy bill.

Way cool of a bull with that palmation and great fronts :)
What kind of dreams did you have between the evening you located him and the next fortune-filled morning?

Doug~RR

What you got there is the bull of a thousand lifetimes. How did you manage to sleep the night after you spotted him?

A BIG congratulations.

Mark

With that palmation one of his ancestors may have been messin around in the moose neighborhood! Awesome animal, mucho congrats.

What an awesome bull, I absolutely love the mass. Congrats on taking a hog, and thanks for the pictures.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-06 AT 06:21PM (MST)[p]Thanks again guys. Around 70" of mass total. Not real long and wide but I'm more than happy with him. 360+ for sure. I'm just not sure how the palmation would actually be measured as you may have noticed from the "scoring question" post. Also, If that 3rd on the right side was not broken off by 9" or so he would definetly score well.

Good hunting!

Score or no score...
That bull is GORGEOUS!
Congratulations to you my friend and thanks for sharing him with us.

Congratulations on a spectacular bull..
His character means much more than a score.
You COULDN'T and WOULDN'T pass that thing up no matter what the case...
What a memory..

Now that is a bull that looks bigger than what it may score(360's). Congratulations! Thanks for sharing.
Jeff

Man that's a toad for sure!! Congratulations! I'll bet that was one of the longest nights you ever had waiting until the morn. Great job and enjoy!!

Thanks again guys. Had I gotten a better look at him that night it would have been a very sleepless night for sure. After seeing him from a mile away I knew he could be a shooter but I had no idea about the character and mass until I got a closer look. I surely couldn't pass him even on the second day.

Scott:
If you look at this post or if anyone knows Scott have him go look on Mossback's web site. If this bull was taken on the Pahvant, I think my brother has a shed off him.

I think I know exactly where you were hunting just by looking at the picture. I have hunted that area my whole life. Great bull right at -------s lookout. Congrats

WOW never seen anything like that wandering the woods

great animal , heck of a pack I bet

Scott,

Congratulations on a tremendous Bull. I dream of shooting a bull someday (any bull for that matter), but yours is an AMAZING bull. I love the uniqueness of the antlers etc. I am glad to see you took some great pictures too. They are "magazine" quality if you ask me.

Firehawk

I think you ought to just throw those strange antlers away in the trash and try to do better next time! Something more typical for sure. Incredible bull for sure!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott, this is my very first post on MM so I hope i am doing this right. I am 99% sure that I have video footage of your bull on an entirely different mountain range back in August. I know where you shot him so it is kind of an amazing story of how far he traveled. I snapped a still shot of it on my cell phone (off the footage), but I have no clue how to get it posted.
What an amazing elk congrats! If your interested just pm me or tell me how to get ahold of you. Layne

great two unit bull! summers north of i-70 and ruts south of i-70 amazing mass huh?
