young addict

I'm with ya bro. I don't remember a time that I didn't go hunting with my dad, my mom has pictures of me when I was 2 with my dad, but hopefuly I'll have a boy of my own to pass the addiction on to.

i have a son who is 13 he is a great hunting partner.he got a 5x5 elk a 28inch buck, a turkey shot a coyote on the dead run which was awsome.he had to bone most of his elk out himself.ol dad 8 had broken ribs. i helped him as much as i could. i am so proud of him.plus he got lots of pheasants an grousein 2003.i take him all i can.you love to see them get stuff you don't care if you shoot anything or not.my girls hunt to daughter got a 23 inch muley this year 2003.my oldest daughter got a 3 horned buck one year. had a little horn in middle of head. boy or girl you will have great hunting partners. plus when you want a new gun tell wife we should get this for them.sometimes it works sometimes it don't. have fun with your kids you will never regret it.

At first I thought this was a post from Mr. Jackson- Just kidding. I know what you mean. I've been shooting since 5, and shot my first deer when I was 10; I was born without 4 fingers on my right hand- thus my trigger finger and the running joke amongst friends who labeled me with my username.

That's way too cool. I bet many people on this board wouldn't be here without their parents taking them hunting.

As for me, I say if your parents took you hunting, call them and thank them then thank God. My parents, good people, are Eastern Liberals who, though certainly not anti-hunting, never thought to take me hunting. However, when we moved from Boston to Billings he saw me staring at deer and gophers way to much and let me buy a gun and had a guy teach me to shoot. Pretty cool of him, considering his Democrat ways!

I take my daughters every chance I can. They're 7 and 10, love to go hunt and always ask if we can do it more.
