Here is a picture I just received and looks like it was taken in Michigan from test of e-mail.

that is not a deer ...look at the nose and face...someone is pulling a fast one

Thats pretty cool. Its a melenistic deer, or in other words the deer only produces black melinin in its skin making its skin and hair white. Very rare.

If Its a melenistic deer then what's with the white tail.....?.....I pasted the pic on my desktop and lightened it up and the buck has alot of brown tone in 'em.

I was hunting in late October with a friend North of Elko
a few years ago and saw a small 2 Point that was black like
that, it was still in velvet and the velvet was black also.
I gave him hell for not shooting it.

I think something is fishy here. The under part of that tail should be black also. All the rest of his hair is black why not underneath the tail. Maybe this gene just affects the body hair and not the tail.

Bet it tasted like chicken!
Thats odd! I seen albino blacktail in A ZONE(CALIFORNA).
However never solid black!

On your your post, I glassed up 2 lions in the grand canyon, 1 was all black as well, one of the coolest things I've ever seen!!

there is a black phase of mt lion. not as common as a black jaguar, but they are there. i've never seen one, but would sure get a kick out of it. i'd be afraid to shoot one tho, be sceered it'd be a black jag. guess if one was up a tree and you could study it a bit, you could tell the difference pretty quick. don't know if i've ever seen a picture of a black lion either. but i've read that the potential is there.
