I went to college in Missoula for the last 2 years and spent some time calling in bulls down in that area....Quite a few elk in the area..but there are also quite a few roads... Most of the hunters stick to the roads and really don't mess things up too bad... But if you're going to hunt it..I would definitely go witht the archery hunt...things get crazy when the rifle hunt rolls around!
