Watering frequency

I've heard that bull elk need to water twice in a 24 hour period considering normal Sept. temps and weather. Is this true?

Thanks in advance.

I'd say that's a prettty fair estimate.
I know in september the bulls get extra thirsty from all the running around they do.
Like i mentioned in a differen't post on watering times, i have been sitting on ponds and wallows in the middle of the day when everything is quiet and had great success, especially on big rutting bulls.
It's also pretty typical for a herd to water up just prior to the evening feed and rutting activity, so it may pay a hunter to get there long before the sun starts too set. I have been caught many times thinking i would be early to a water hole, when in fact i was actually late.
