Well,I just finished off the best year of my life.I shot an antelope with my bow,a deer with my rifle and this bull with my muzzy.I shot this bull on the 2nd day of the hunt.We had just pursued a bull right before that turned out to be a 5 point. My brother filmed him coming in at 10 yards. As he ran off barking at us several times to my brothers calls,we could hear this bull screaming up the canyon. After locating the bull at about 400 to 500 yards away,we decided to take the steep hill to our left because the canyon we were heading up was too think and noisy at the bottom. We had to climb over shell rock to get on the high side, but it worked perfectly because when we crested the ridge, the bull was 200 yards away fighting with another 6 point.I waited for the right shot and let squeeze. My bullet sailed right over his back. You could see the dust fly. Then, all hell broke loose trying to get another round in.It is actually kind of funny now.Several elk were running after that first shot but my bull stood still the hole time. After reloading,I took aim again, but this time the bullet hit it's mark and after a few anxious seconds, the bull side stepped a few times and went down. This is my first bull and although I still had 12 days to hunt,I am extremely happy with my bull.My dad who had to stay at the truck with a bad hip,was leaving the next morning and my best buddy from Salt Lake had to leave the day after that,so everyone that came down on my hunt got to witness it.It was just me,my brother,my friend, and my dad.My thanks go out to all of them. They were the ones that made this a hunt I will never forget. Now I know why people say that it doesn't matter if you get the biggest trophy on the mountain,as long as you have friends and family there to experience the thrill of nature and experience your trophy hunt with you.I couldn't have done it without them.

here is a pic with me,my dad and my friend. He is a little busted on his 1st and second points on his right side.I would guess a total of about 7-8".

He was on the uphill side of a little canyon that funneled out of the main canyon. The hardest part was moving him around in the field and dressing him out, quartering him, etc. We took the head out that night after dark and got the rest out the next morning. The hardest part of packing him out was the 200 yards downhill to the trail in the canyon.Total pack time leaving the kill site that morning was 30 minutes.I have no idea what he would score. The taxidermist said he would guess mid 340's,but he has about 7-8"busted off his right side,so if that's true,it would put him just over 350,but Im not really sure. His thirds are 16",his fourths are 20",he is about 44" wide, and his main beams are just shy of 50".

Awesome bull bro. It was a lot of fun standing back with the camera after that first shot and it was a great hunt. I can't wait until next year. Maybe Utah???

Nothing wrong with that bull, real nice and that was a good read on your story--family and friends...can not beat that.

Congrats
