All I can say is holy sh*t! That would be my dream buck right there. Congrats to the lucky hunter on a buck of many lifetimes.

Something tells me we are going to hear more on this buck in the future! Like it's B&C score! Damn, what a buck!

You should see some of the elk taken off this reservation in the years past as well...unfortunely you dont see much of any of the animals taken. These animals can never be officially entered into the record books as well.

THATS JUST EXACTLY LIKE THE BUCK I DIDN'T SEE DURING THE MUZZ HUNT!!!

NOW THATS A NICE 'RACK!!!

PLEASE SEND ME THE EXACT GPS COORDINATES!!!

IS IT O.K. IF I STARE???

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING: DD'S ARE LIKE 290" BUCKS,THEY'RE NICE BUT NOT MANY AROUND!!!

What is the deal with them not being able to be entered into the record books from the res? Is it that way with all reservations? And if so, why? I'm just curious.

By the way that is an incredible buck. I would die for something like that.

The indians on the Wind River rez can shoot something like 8 deer per year. I don't know if they even have a season. A few years ago I was talking with one of the rez game wardens while fishing and he was telling me until just a few years before, they could hunt deer and elk year around and take as many as they wanted. He said one time him and another guy got into a herd of 16 deer and leveled the whole bunch. One of those deals I guess. Unless you own your own property on the rez, you won't be hunting where this hog was taken.

Triple pretty much summed it up. It's illegal for non-natives to hunt on this reservation unless its on private land.

Oh! As far as the record book....I hear that they cannot be entered because this reservation restricts permits to only Natives. If non-natives were allowed to purchase permits and hunt within the reservation then they could be entered. For example the ones in NM and AZ everyone is allowed to hunt on those.

GOOD HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DID THAT BUCK WALK AROUND WITH SO MUCH LUMBER ON HIS HEAD... TALK ABOUT BEAUTIFUL TRASH!!!!! I FEEL SORRY FOR HER HUSBAND, HE MAY AS WELL TAKE UP FISHING.

CATHY, CONGRATULATIONS. THANKS FOR GETTING ME PUMPED UP WITH HOPES AGAIN.

STILL TRYING TO PICK UP MY JAW OFF THE FLOOR.

A buck like that is exactly why I hunt so hard for trophy mule deer. I cant even imagine a buck like that in my dreams!!!!!

I do not believe it is correct that no entries would be accepted from the WR reservation. As long as the entry affadavit can be acknowledged, and they were taken in compliance with tribal regulations, they should be eligible. As for hunting on the reservation, draw a 128/129 late tag for the Nov. 1-20 time period, and hunt the WG&F property on the Spence-Moriarity WMA inside the boundaries on the east side of the East Fork. There are some incredible bucks seen and taken each year, but the 40:1 odds are the killer.

Has something to do with non-natives not being able to hunt on the reservation. thats why it cannot be entered. look at the ones in NM and AZ...non-natives can hunt on those and those can be entered. thats what i heard anyway.

here's the story....

Two photos of the mule deer Cathy Keene shot on Oct 3, 2004. The general area of the mule deer was in the Owl Creek Mountains on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Shot from a distance of approx 260 yards with one shot from a 300 Ultra Mag. Cathy's husband is a taxidermist and, along with Cathy, owns Ancient Ways Taxidermy. He rough scored him at 290-3/8, 40-1/2" wide, with at least 35 scoreable points.....

WOW!!!!!!!......Awesom!!!!!!!!

I heard the same in a Eastmans video, as a guy from an arizona rez killed a big bull but Mike said "it couldn't be entered into the B.C Books......Too bad!....

Excuse me...I need to go change my underwear! Holy crap I love that thing...I can only dream!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-12-04 AT 06:21AM (MST)[p]There are some MONSTER bucks here in WA on the Colville reservation. We have snuck in on horseback into the rez's backcountry and have seen some that would make you piss youself. My hunting buddy showed me pics that he took of 2 bucks that were shot off of the rez that were over 40". They were both shot by a couple of kids. If the snow is not too deep this december when I am hunting whities, I will ride (sneak) onto the rez and get some pics.

A few years back the Wind River Indian Reservation put a limit on how many animals could be harvested and at specific times which wound up being a regular hunting season like the rest of the state.

I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but I wouldn't be surprised. I just heard that this lady was offered 1 million dollars for this head by Cabelas. And i think it was Bass Pro shops offered her 1.25 mil + a reproduction of it...anyone else hear anything?

LAST EDITED ON Oct-25-04 AT 09:54PM (MST)[p]If they wouldn't even pay the $250,000 the World's Record Broder Buck that just sold for, to a Private buyer, I highly doubt they would pay a million for a 290 class buck. Funny how rumors go on the internet. Makes me think some kid like Cass is the one that comes up with outragous numbers like that. :):)
