I have a buddy that is really interested in this LE unit.

She has 13 LE elk points and needs a little info from 'those in the know' about this unit.

She has her own 'giddy-up' transportation and pack-in gear and is mainly a Solo rifle hunter but does have a 'camp-jack-ie' on most hunts.

Any intel would be most welcome.... PM me if you would rather.

Sorry Robb,

I do not know that unit at all. I will ask around, if I can come up with anything useful I will let you know!

Unless she is really partial to that particular unit, I think she could have potential for something bigger elsewhere with that many points. Not to try to talk her out of it, but if I had that many points I would use them somewhere else.

There are some issues on that unit right now with all the oil and gas development on winter range and the way the Ute Tribe manages elk on their lands wich make up a significant chunk of the unit. Here is a little info.

Rob,

I think Dax has the right idea. Use to be some great bulls out there. Not saying there still aren't a few, but it's not what it use to be.

My uncle had a late cow tag out there, he did not get this year-use to be a slamdunk hunt in one day-close to the road. There is A TON of new roads and human activity out in that country. Not sure where the elk have been pushed to.

I think she'd be better off on a different unit with those kind of points.

I've been going over what to do with my 12 points for the last hour or so.

It's kind of stressful when there's actually a few good hunts I could draw now........would be even more so with 13:)

Good luck!

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

Thanks alot for the input fella's.

I think she mainly wants to draw this year and to start on her muley LE draw in 2009.

12 or 13 pts is almost in no-mans land huh Paul... no 'lock' units that equal that many years wating it out for a good bull.

Thanks again...and Dax for all that extra effort 'intel'..

Robb,

Not many early rifle hunts to draw, but there's getting to be quite a few archery, muzzleloader, and late hunts that I could likely draw this year.

Trying to decide if I should draw now or wait it out another few years. I don't suspect that quality is going to get any better than we have now.
