08 Utah LE bull non-res permit numbers?

Used to be that the proc gave you some idea of how many permits might be drawn (in the past year anyway). Looking at the 2008 there are no permit numbers, not even from 2007, only whether or not there will be a non-res tag for the hunt code. Does anyone know where to find the info? Won't make much sense to apply for a tag if there is only one and you have less than max points.
Thanks

they dont decide on the hunt numbers until after the spring count surveys..I think it is in June that they make the numbers finalized.

just use last years numbers. They dont change much year to year.

Keep in mind too that only 1 tag in a unit means the Bonus Point pool is just like everyone else. It takes 2 tags to give one to the bonus pool. Your original comment made it sound like you figured you were out of luck w/o max points with only 1 tag, when in reality only 1 tag screws the guys with max pts.

Tag numbers are recommended to the RAC's and wildlife board in late March. Then whatever numbers the wildlife board sets is what we get. The final numbers are usually posted shortly after, but long after the application period is over. I am still trying to figure the 'logic' of that out.

while we're on the UT tag #'s subject.

If you have max points and fail to draw a tag from the max pool drawing, do they put you back into the regular "at large" pool?

I ask because a few years ago on the Bowsite, an AZ game guy explained that the max pool guys there (AZ) did NOT go back into the pool and as such you had better odds being 1 point short of max.

WapitiBob, yes you get put back into the general pool for the remaining tags. So, as a max point holder, if there are two or more tags available, the max point holders get two chances for a tag.

Thanks guys. I looked up all of the non-resident tag numbers for archery, any weapon and muzzleloader for 2007. Some stayed the same as in 2006, but a few increased just a bit. I think I have figured out where I'll be applying.

Well the application is in. Long long shot for the tag I chose to apply for. Didn't bother with any second third choice as that never happens. Now I'm a licensed hunter for Utah 2008. Can I call the license fee a donation on my tax return?? LOL
