I drew a 6B archery tag! I am more than greatful but it was my third choice on the application. Is this considered a "good," "great," or "incredible" unit? I realize that the hunt will be what my preseason prep makes of it but I'm new to AZ and have lucked out on another tag that I'm not overly familiar with. I just would love some feedback to get the blood pumpin! I plan on huntin at least ten days of the hunt and will be able to scout plenty before hand. I'll get in there and find out first hand what to shoot for but their horns are on the ground now and I'll have to wait a few months to get in there and dirty.

Oh, does anyone have the unit manager's name and number?

Thanks again guys!

The regional G&F office in Flag should be able to tell you who is the WM.
Did you draw for the November archery bull season?

the reason he asks if it was a Nov archery tag is because typically you can't get a Sept archery bull tag with your third choice. If it is a Sept tag then I would bet money you had it as a second choice. Just out of curiosity I would see if you could contact the G&F and ask them to look that up for you.

It's a good unit in general there are lots of elk in 6B. If you drew the Sept. hunt. the first weekend is always packed with people. Find that spot that isn't too crowded and you should do good. If you don't mind hiking try all the rim country and get deep in to them canyons to find a good bull. I believe the game warden in 6B is a gentleman by the name of Lee Loudeckar(sp?)at least I know he is out there quit a bit. Good luck and do your homework!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-08 AT 04:31PM (MST)[p]Yes his name is Lee loudecker. He has been the wm for 6b for at least 25 years. I actually put 6b as my first choice and didnt draw. You will have a good hunt. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I'm a hiker and get as far from people as my filter will take me. Distance helps you reduce being trigger-happy because the farther you get from a road, the better the animal has to be to make it worth it!

There is a lot of elk in that unit. Spend a few weekends scouting and you will agree. Figure out where they go when they get some hunting pressure during archery deer season. Hunt those spots in Sept. Good luck.
