I got lucky and drew a Valle Vidal rifle elk tag. Never been there. Anybody with some tips on the area would be appreciated.

i hunted there in 05 on the youth hunt and got a decnt six by six oh and my dad drew the second rifle hunt this year, be prepared for weather change one day it's sunny and hot the next day we woke up to three inches of snow

Hunted it last year on my daughter's youth bull hunt. The wardens for that area are VERY helpful. Be prepared to pack. There's very little road access and the elk are not stupid. As a guide told me....unless you're used to looking at big elk, do NOT shoot the first bull you see. My daughter killed a nice 5x5 but a much bigger 7 point stepped out after she shot. It was her first animal so it was fine.

Don't have anything to help with the hunt, but if you click on RJ's avatar, you can see recent posts. He hasn't posted since 2009 so you may not get a reply.

Brian, Ghost, and Green posted as a guest so that info isn't available for them. Looks like you had several responses on your other posts so hopefully you can get some good info from them.
