Well for the past two months or more I have had a few friends in my backyard. Pretty much every night. http://www.monstermuleys.info/photos/user_photos_2018/600794fb4a722a4f744c18227ba3115aca5f2.jpeg
Even sometimes in the middle of the day. http://www.monstermuleys.info/photos/user_photos_2018/60645e1d6b615b8e149e4b49598f70d30e784.jpeg Even some of these critters. http://www.monstermuleys.info/photos/user_photos_2018/90895f10186eff07a48ee84d490ddcadab8e4.jpeg They killed all of my chickens. So I said I was done. No more chickens and got a dog put back in my kennel. Now up in Bess?s kneck of the woods at the trainer. Well I now have pigeons for trainer the dog. Lost most of the coop and have seven birds left in the coop. As these critters have gotten bolder I have figured I need to start some back yard trapping. Well I have caught a skunk and a couple of squirrels. I have caught a few raccoons in the past. But these keep dancing around my traps. The coyote or coyotes as well not sure if there is more then one? I have had a few friends that do trap come over and help set a few sets. They tell me to be patient. But I pull the camera cards and watch the suckers running around my back yard. Have a few Fox as well but as soon as we put out the coyote piss. They caught that sent and went running threw the trap set and haven't been back. It's a fine line balancing act trying not to catch pets and not using firearms within the city limits. But I am getting a little frustrated.

Dear BIGJOHNT

MEMO ..... From Jagerdad ... As Follows:

To catch Coyotes and Not your Pet, Dig a hole about 1 foot deep. Lay a few Chicken Eggs (store bought = OK) into the bottom of the hole. Cover about 1/2 way with dirt. Widen the hole to fit the model of Trap you're using. Lift loose Trap Jaw up. Lay cloth over trigger and lay loose Jaw back down. Cover with dirt up to normal surface. In a night or a few days, you WILL awaken to a very loud Coyote in the Buried Trap.

If your Trap is not stamped with an ID # then you decide if to stake it down or allow the Coyote to run off with it. I suggest a CCI 22 CB Cap to silently dispatch the intruder.

End of Memo ....

Jagerdad :)

How about mountain lions? :D Just razzin' you.

Dear Eel...

It depends upon what the Mountain Lion has done... ?

It may be a MouseDemeanor or, a FelineO'knee.

BIGJOHNT, You've been invaded. I feel your pain. I used to try and have a garden and fruit trees but I gave up. The only thing I grow now are zucchini and tomatoes. Those are the only two things the deer and the coons won't eat. And most years the tomatoes won't grow in the fog and cold wind. But I have zucchini. Yahoo!

I'm in northwest California BIGJOHN. I've killed at least 50 raccoons here over the years. The more I kill, the more show up so I waved the white flag.

Ok eel I remember now. From your Halibut post. I grew up in Southern California across from Catilina island. Been in Utah for 28 years know. The weather was great in California but it got a little crazy. Or the people are a little crazy and the traffic. Use to drive to Utah and Colorado to hunt since I was a young boy. Most people in California did understand bring home and providing your own meat for your family.

Big john, go buy some golden malrin from tractor supply then go buy some dr. Pepper , mix together, put in a bowl and Wamo you'll get ride of all them coons. Some of them coons will die with there heads still in the bowl. Just don't let your dog drink it though.

Trail set, no senr just make a path for them to walk down place your trap( waxed and and sent proof) in the middle of the path 10 inches on each side of the trap, set an obstacle, ie branch, stick about 3 to 5 inches above the trail, path, in a manmer the coyote will set over it @nd into the trap. Sent will activate there senses. You need to make the whole thing unscented lol

BIGJOHN, it's worse than I thought.

I hate to say it but I'm afraid your only option is "FOR SALE by OWNER....AS IS"

Do it for your sanity. :D

I don't think that Coyote killed any of your chickens that thing has not ate in a month.
You are in trouble now That is the original Wile E Coyote.

A triple!!!! So cool.

Now what are you going to do? You still have a gun shooting problem.

p.s. A 22 rifle barrel pushed right up against a raccoon head is pretty quiet.

+10 CB are good for a tap or double tap.

My dad used to live trap too. If he caught a cat he would let it go also, but only after he hosed it down for about 10 minutes with a garden hose. Very few cats returned.

No we have been using a choke pole. A neighbor helped me clean the traps out while I was elk hunting. He is using the money to pay for his kids on missions.

Lol.

For the ones that get the death sentence their mouth muffles the sound. Stick the barrel in and they bite it and pull the trigger.

I throw a tarp over the trap....put one end of a hose under the tarp and the other end in my exhaust pipe....and sit in the truck and read the paper......they go right to sleep

Got another coyote this morning ! Heard him at 5 am make a little noise when he hit the trap. Remember this is like 35 yards from my bed room window. Cooling off a little in St George. Got the window open. I guess you can't do that in California . :) Meaning keep you window open and unlocked. ;-)

It's not that bad Big John I sleep with my window open when it is cool enough, but right beside my pillow is a 41 Smith & Wesson Mag for anyone brave enough to stick their head in the window.........LOL not too many takers

Hey Big John, when I was at your house a few years ago, thought you told me you target practiced off your deck... did the neighbors tune you up or the city? That would make your disposal easier.

I do have my shooting bench set up on the back deck. Usually have my flutted barreled 177 caliber Gamo adult pellet rifle in the bags. But that's a little light for coyotes. ????
