I drew the tag from the expo, now looking at some of the older posts I'm wondering what to expect. Did anyone here hunt this in 2017? Any help would be great thanks.

I was in Moab last week for the first time since I was a kid. As I was headed south from the interstate I looked at about 10 o?clock and thought ?there has to be elk up there?.

Pullout out ol onyx maps and those are the LeSals!!!!

Obviously never been. Lots of luck to you. I'd love to spend a day or two down there in the late hunt with my tripod and glass.

I like dissecting a unit I've never been on almost as much as I like dissecting one I know by heart.

Not sure how much you know about late hunts but if you have never been on one, they can be very challenging. I've not hunted that unit but have been on some late hunts.
That time of year the big bulls separate from the cows and go to secluded spots to lick their rut wounds. They often seek private land where they won't be bothered, or out of the way places where no one goes. If you are seeing big herds of cows, you are in the wrong spot.
That being said, if you can find someone that knows where the big bulls are during that time of year, you improve your odds significantly.
Best of luck

So I have hunted two late hunts by Ely NV. I believe I know what the late hunt has in store. I was more curious about where the bulls move later in the year? They always tend to have a region of destination. I will do this hunt without a guide. I have heard about the North and South polar mesa as a good spot?? Thanks again!
