LAST EDITED ON Nov-02-13 AT 05:11PM (MST)[p]My partner has one, and loves it. The "On-Point" feature only seems to work after the dog is on point for 10 seconds, or so.
Personally, I love my Tri-Tronics. 1/2 the price, can't see the dog on GPS BUT does everything I need. I can let my dog/dogs roam @ 2-300 yards when I can see them but when going around a blind hill, I can reel them in inside of 50 yards. I put 100s of miles behind my dogs every year and they know one "tone" means to turn, 2 "tones" means you better work back to me, 3 "Tones" means get back here now.
Today my male was working with the wind @ his back, got really birdy on fresh scent of where they had been recently. I hit the tone button, he froze, I came up and we creeped together until I got a very good covey flush. Pre- E-collar days he would have moved forward until he got enough scent to lock up solid. With the wind at his back that would have probably meant busting them.
My partner has his set to beep when "Hanna" gets outside 25 yds, and 75 yds. All that beeping would confuse me. I understand what I see thus I keep my dogs within sight. But every feature on the collar/controller does work.
For $600.00 I bought the Tri-Tronics
field 90, G3; 2 extra collars, car charger and house charger. The collars are color coded. Male runs on black, b1tch runs on red and blue is the spare. I can go on a 4 day Nevada chukar hunt, charge collars in the truck, have a spare is one breaks, controll up to 3 dogs.
Good luck with your purchase, and happy hunting.
