Which one would you buy.

1x Nikon Buckmaster vs. 1x T/C hawken

How is the 1x Vortex red/green dot for a muzzy. I bought a weaver 1x but the crosshairs are a little bigger then I think I like. At 200 yards it covers most of the target.

I have the Vortex on my White & the Nikon on my CVA. I like them both but the Nikon covers up a lot of your target. I'm thinking about putting the Vortex on the CVA because you can change the size of the dot for longer shots.

I have the tc hawken on my encore and love it. It is a great scope. I like the fine crosshair that it has and have had great results with it.

I've used the nikon for three years now its a great scope but as mentioned it will cover more of the target than others. My nikon covers a paper plate at 150 yards so that will give you a example of the thicker crosshairs.

1X Power Scopes are JUNK!

The Average TARD Eye can see better on it's own rather than looking through a 1 Power Scope!

The Shock from My Smoke Pole has destroyed a couple of the 1X scopes now!

I'm not Impressed!

This Story happens alot it's True!
But Ya Best Hope it don't ever happen to you!

elkassassin, how many times we got to tell you , not to put 300 gr, of black powder in you muzz, you cant kill elk at a 1ooo yards with your muzz,,,,,,

What the heck, I thought you said 460 grains of powder, then I would have No Excuses for missing the bull! :)

like the Simmons 1x it petty thin and don't cover the animal.

I researched this a few years back so my findings may be out of date! Most scopes I looked at had crosshairs right around 2 moa. That's gonna cover up about 4" at 200 yds. The T/C had 1.5 moa and the Leupold prismatic came in at 1.25. I went with the T/C because it was 1/4 the price of the Leupold and I've been very happy with it. It does have the adjustment screws instead of knobs so if you're the kind that likes to crank up your scope for longer shots you may try the prismatic.

Where are you getting that the Leupold is 1.25? Looking on their website for a muzzleloading 1x prismatic scope, it says the center dot is 3" at 100 yards.

It looks like they've changed their reticles for the prismatic. They used to have a little + on those and it was the smallest reticle I could find anywhere. Not sure if I'd like the 3moa dot as much.

I have the T/C Hawken and I like it a lot better then then the others I have looked through. Clear glass and a fine crosshair is about the best you can get. If you turn the eye relief out as far as you can before the glass goes fuzzy it almost magnifies the image a little.

Only scope I have tried that I thought was better was the $1700 G7 Nightforce scope and no way I am paying $1700 for a ML scope.

I've tried about every kind of scope, red-dot and iron sights that are Utah legal. I've settled on an Eotech the last few years. It's a 1-moa dot and when I'm not muzzleloading it goes on an AR.

Of the two scopes mentioned the Nikon is a much, much better scope. The Weaver 1x is also an excellent scope for quite a bit less than the nikon. I personally have the nikon on my accura and have a sightron on my triumph. The sightron has worked just fine for about the last 6 years, but the nikon is much better glass.

I've had traditions one power scope on my pursuit for 5 years now. Never had it budge since the first time I sited it in, and it's worked awesome for me. I sited it in to the very top edge of the horizontal reticle, so I don't have to worry about how much of the target it covers. It's dead on at 150yds and at 205yds it's dead on using the bottom of the reticle.

Anybody know if they make this Scope in Silver?

I used to know of places worth Hiking in to for Elk & Deer!
Thanks to Illegal Bastards & the USFS not enforcing Rules you can Zing in to them Places on Wheelers now & not see a Damn thing!
But by GAWD it don't take long for them U-Tards to get there with all the Unethical BS and the New Technology!

I also researched this quite a bit a couple years ago for a UT hunt and bought the TC Hunter Hawken 1x because the reticle was thinner than the others and it did help me. I was able to get good groups at 200 yds which I was surprised. I liked the bigger objective and did compare it to the Nikon (I have 2 other Nikon scopes) and I liked the TC better.

I'm going to sell my scope when I get around to it as I have no need now that I won't be hunting UT for many years.

I plan to be setting my muzzy up this year with a better peep and front sight and hoping to get at least a 200 yd range.

I had a red dot for a minute but found that the cross hairs on the vortex were easier to judge.

What Vortex scope were you using??? The only one power they have doesn't come out till this spring...

I bought the Leupold and I love it. Etched reticle doesn't need to be illuminated. Well designed reticle combines quick pointing ability with precision aiming. I' m not interested in long range muzzleloading, but I like the precision at 100-200 yards.----SS
