I have been working with a man that bought a LGPH. He was wanting to shoot my paper patched bullets. His first shots through this new gun was three shots at 50 yards. This is it.

He sent me news today that he took the rifle out today and shot a three shot group at 100 yards. The load is 80 gr of pyrodex P, an over powder wad, and a Paper Patched Lee C-501-440-RF bullet. This is the same load I use in my Hot Rods. I was excited to see another brand of traditional rifle shoot this load so well. Ron

I love shooting roundball! My wife has a LGPM in a .54. I have a TVM in a .54 and another handmedown in .54. We shoot these when we go out shooting blackpowder. I won a Thompson Omega in a raffle. It came with 5 rounds and they are sabots. I have had it for about 5 years. Still have not cleaned the cosmolene out of it. Round ball is fun! we only use Goex, but we still enjoy these rifles!!!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-05-14 AT 08:26AM (MST)[p]This is good to know. Since GM drop in barrels for the TC are hard to find now, this is a good option to convert my GPR into a slug gun and give this a try.

The GPR is a .54 but I'd like to turn it into a .50 slugger. (if I could find a GM barrel for my .50 TC Hawken I would).

That is why I posted this. I didn't shoot the gun or make the bullets. I just gave him the idea and the info how to do it. I am really excited that they work in this gun for the same reason as you. Ron

Wow, that's pretty cool Ron. Gives me great hope for my LGPH, which I'm having re-stocked now (I sent you a PM update on hopefully the final chapter of my problems with my rifle). If you ever do another "class" on this subject I would happily make the trip over to your neck of Idaho to see how you do it.

I know this is an old thread coming back from the grave. But I recently tried these same bullets in a .50 GPH barrel I installed on my GPR. So far, at 50yds, I'm having similar results. This weekend I hope to find time to try them at 100.

Thanks for the recipe on these, Idahoron.
