Opinions on White 98 Elite Hunter

I am looking for opinions on the .504 White 98 Elite Hunter. In looking at White's website it says it very similar to the Super 91 except the barrel is "7 groove truncated rifling in the newer M98".

How is accuracy on the 98 compared to the Super 91?

Any ignition issues with #11 caps?

What does the laminated stocked version with 24 inch barrel weigh?

Sharing of any pros or cons of this rifle would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I've Heard of Good Accuracy out of this Gun!

My not so Good Memory says just over 8-1/2 lbs on Weight!

Pro's:

Whites Hold their Value Quite Well!

Cons:

Alot of Whites Guns are not in Production anymore & sometimes hard to Find!

I have both the S91 and an Elite, and for the life of me I see no difference except for a second action screw and a (heavier) laminated stock.

I shoot nothing but T7 in my Whites, and have never had a problem with ignition, but I use RWS 10.75 caps. They are hotter and fit tighter; I like them.

I have no way to weigh the Elite, but I would guess somewhere between 8-1/2 and nine lbs.

The Elite is highly sought after. I don't know that one is an improvement over the other, however, although I do like the lam stocks on stainless MLs. They are just heavy, and they don't get any lighter as you approach the top of the ridge...

Piece of crap. Barely function as a muzzleloader. Would give you $300 to help you out!

Shows nice, quality build, nice rifle, shoot well, and typical White quality. Listen to Doubless for all things White

I agree with Blank, BUT I'm a nicer person. I will give ya $301.00 and a Hug.

That last sentence is hysterical, considering the source; it is all backward! I have owned and played with most models of the Whites, but Blank is the guy that turned me on to them originally. I live in TX and generally just get to shoot paper with mine. He, on the other hand, just uses his to kill elk, muleys, whitetails, and pronghorns, and the pronghorns sometimes at ranges of 300 yards!!!

I still Want one, Just don't have the Pennies to get one.
I guess keep that Omega until I can save up those pennies.
I hear tell you can walk all day just to get to the animal you shot.

Gator, I have several I would consider letting go of. When you are ready, shoot me a PM and we can talk about it... they are almost all used, but none of them has been hurt.

I suspect it is.

I think the 22" stainless Whitetail would work well. It is what I carried in Idaho back before the cancer made itself known... The one I carried wore (wears...) a Lyman SMET and the original front ramped blade. Using my own cast 435-grain conicals, I was able to keep five shots in a 2" group at 100, and that is sitting cross-legged on the ground. (I don't think I can do that any more...)

There is a reason the Whites carry the rep they have. The darned things just shoot!
