Remember Forrest Gump and the life is like a box of chocolates analogy? Well, that is antler hunting for me...I never know what I'm going to get. The most recent hike, I had just found a small "whitey" 5-pt. and was on a fairly thick sagebrush slope, when I'd taken a few steps and saw a small spike antler at my feet. Thought a "grid" or circular search might be nearly impossible, so I just continued on my way, until after about 50yds., when I decided to cross an ATV track to hike on another ridge. There in the middle of the track was another spike, and I was amazed to find I had a matched set! We all hunt for different reasons, and just the incredible luck of matching the "set" is enough for me...ranks up there even with some of the nicer antlers I've found! (oh...and I found one more to push my count to 35 on the year!) "Antler Hunting...ALWAYS an adventure!"
